Does your family have a Christmas tradition?

In mine we have two gifts that are sent around every year. The first is a Glass Slide of a Cabin in the Alps. The second is an old pocket watch. Both of these are accompanied by papers showing who has had them in the past and the dates they had them. (I had the watch this year and had it repaired.) You know you are trusted and accepted into the family when you receive one of these.

The funny thing is no one in the family was alive when this was started.

Eureka! The famous archeologist SeaCat has finally revealed the origins or "re-gifting"! :D

Three traditions:

Mum celebrates Yule. We always have Roast Beef (it may be delayed this year due to cold and manflu)

My parents, sister, me and the fiance have steamed ham on Christmas Eve (and poor mum has to drive us home due to buses - we'd stay but Mark can't sleep on pullout beds)

Christmas Day we spend with his family - Christmas dinner in the pub, same one every year, his dad knows the landlords and has for years, so we can wangle what we like - VERY handy as I'm a stupidly fussy eater. We always pay double and the extra is for the staff to have some Christmas drinks :)

Things change over the years but one thing remains the same.
When my babies were just that I bought them a new ornament every year. My son's first ornament that was given to him was a rocking horse, so all of his ornaments are rocking horses, which is getting really hard to find, found one this year that wasnt an ornament, tied a string on it and bam! Its an ornament! lol My daughter got a ballerina for her first so all of hers are dancers (learned my lesson fast on the rocking horses). When they have a home of their own they will get their ornaments to take with them-will be a sad day Im sure.

Other than that, I make a lime jello with cottage cheese and pineapple, no one except my mom likes it but I do and to hell with anyone who doesnt want it, Ill eat it! lol
