I've decided to take the bull by the horns as it where and make this thread.

I can remember some of our more Merry Playgrounders or perhaps it was the How To'ers who took it upon themselves to say if anyone was interested they would send you a Christmas greeting card.

There where some others who created a cookie exchange sort of thing for Holiday sweets.

And one other who even created a Secret Santa gift exchange..

So... Is anyone interested in doing something like this? I know it's very short notice and the hour is late so to speak with Christmas upon us only 12 days away but I figure better late than never. And if things get delivered late in the snail mail who cares its the thought that counts and the childlike excitement of getting something other than bills in the mail.

So what say you Litsters? Anyone wanna take a stab at having some fun??

Hell we could even do a simple post card exchange or something. But winter is long dark and dreary and I could really use some humanity right now.

Now I'm excited.. I did some research well actually a friend did it for me but we found these threads:

Now truthfully those are two examples of things that are way more complicated than I can organize or handle.

If anyone wants to volunteer to do something as complicated as that please feel free.

But as an alternative I propose this. If your willing to send a Post Card, Christmas Card or some sort of baked good(s) or cookie exchange kind of thing then post here and invite people to PM you with their information.

Please Please Please use discretion and be safe about this though ok? And remember to check for food allergies etc.. We dont want anyone getting hurt.

Does that work for everyone? Truth is I really suck at setting this kind of thing up and Im not familiar enough with how to use Lit to set up a fancy list like some of the other threads on here.

I am making fruitcakes this weekend. And I just know y'all want one. Actually it's more of a fruit/nut cake as it only has the cherries and pineapples but like 3 lbs of walnuts and pecans..... it's delicious even though I can't eat too much of it.... nasty blood sugars.

And I'd be glad to send postcards from Florida to anyone who wants one.... cause I sure ain't going no where else for the holidays ..... dang economy.....

holiday greetings and salutations to one and all

it is i, as2u, nightbird's elf for this thread. since he's a man, he needs help organizing this. that's were i come in. that little obsessive compulsive thing i have comes in handy sometimes!

this is not a christmas thing. while we wish everyone a happy holiday and all that stuff, there is simply not enough time to get this done before christmas. what we'd like to do is make this a "winter sucks, i could use a smile" thing.

first of all, NO GIFTS!!! the economy sucks and no one has the extra cash to spend on this. if you do have any extra cash, please forward it directly to me. we're thinking a funny card will go a long way to helping spread a smile. if you are so inclined some baked (or even store bought) goodies always is nice. who doesn't want to pack on a few extra pounds over the winter??

we'd like to ask that anyone who wishes to participate send a pm to me or nightbird (he'll forward them to me). include your name and address. this information will only be shared with the person who has you in the card exchange. i think the cut off date for participating will be jan 15th. that gives everyone one month to get involved. one month to forward me your information. one month to tell your friends about this. it gives us time to get thru the holidays without another thing on our to do list. no added pressure.

in the new year, no one has anything else to do anyway, right? so on january 15th, i will close out the roster for participants. january 16th will have me sending out pm's to those who wish to participate with the name and address of the person they are supposed to send a card to.

we would ask that all cards be put in the mail no later than january 31st. this should makes smiles happen for everyone by the middle of february.

so what do you say? want to spread a little happiness and good cheer? want to join in on the fun? want to leave the negativity and stress behind? jump on the "winter sucks, i could use a smile" bandwagon and let's conga to good cheer!
