I thought it would be good to share our favorite treat recipes. This one will get us started.

Jose Cuervo Christmas Cookies

1 cup of water
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup of brown sugar
4 large eggs
1 cup nuts
2 cups of dried fruit
1 bottle Jose Cuervo Tequila

Sample the Cuervo to check quality. Take a large bowl, check the Cuervo again, to be sure it is of the highest quality, pour one level cup and drink.

Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.

Add one peastoon of sugar. Beat again. At this point it's best to make sure the Cuervo is still ok, try another cup just in case.

Turn off the mixerer thingy.

Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit.

Pick the frigging fruit off the floor.

Mix on the turner.

If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaters just pry it loose with a drewscriver.

Sample the Cuervo to check for tonsisticity.
Next, sift two cups of salt, or something. Who geeves a s....t. Check the Jose Cuervo. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.

Add one table.

Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find.

Greash the oven.

Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over.

Don't forget to beat off the turner..

Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish the Cose Juervo and make sure to put the stove in the wishdasher.
Cherry Mistmas !

Did we break our leggs from drinking too much Jose? Is this a body contact cooking session?

Cookiesh? Cookiesh? We don' need no stinking cookiesh . . . cookige . . . gookitch . . . flat sweet thingies.

I like the part where you're supposed to pick the fruit up off the floor. Drunk baking at its best.

Reads stupid, but is a nice song.....

(it really is)

Chocolate Chip Cookies

In the mixing bowl put butter, 200g cut thin,
Then soft brown sugar from our sugar tin.
Now you take white sugar and you cream to a paste
200g of each of them gets that great taste.
2 beaten eggs are next, gradually you add them,
Mixing well the whole time, ‘til your arms are achin’.
Make sure it’s all creamy smooth,
‘cause that will guarantee their
success - any expert would agree there.

Teaspoon of baking powder, 5 drops Vanilla Essence.
Now fold in the flour, 600g (or maybe seven).
Oh yeah! And half a teaspoon of salt, I just remembered.
The combination tastes really quite intense.
Two bars of plain chocolate in little pieces
And you stir them in briefly -
The gorgeous smell increases…
Once it’s all done transfer the dough
Into a sealed container.
Now you can lick the bowl and put it on the drainer.

Chocolate Chip Cookies
I’m baking Chocolate Chip Cookies
Because my Chocolate Chip Cookies
Are irresistible (as you can tell).

The dough needs to chill inside the fridge
A day and a night.
‘cause what you want is bite, and they’ll get that alright.
I’m off to have a nice day now, spend the night at play -
Tomorrow will be judgement day!
You heat up the oven to hundred and eighty C
Baking paper’s good; now the dough will have to be
Rolled into little balls and spread out by hand -
Mind the gab, ‘cause these babies expand.

Bake on the middle rack ten, fifteen mins or so;
Time enough for dishes; get some coffee on the go.
Open up, get them out; this moment is so rare:
The instand of completion, loved by artists everywhere.
And if some bad luck I end up with some burnt ones
I’ll send them to my grandma;
The best behaved of Grandsons,
And save the best ones for my love to try.
P.S. the ingredients can be fun to modify.

CHRISTMAS PUNCH FOR YOUR COOKIES.

ONE FIFTH OF VODKA (a quart is a bit too much and ruins the flavor)
ONE GALLON OF SNOW IN A METAL PAIL/BUCKET
ONE CAN OF FREESTONE PEACHES
ONE BOTTLE MARICHINO CHERRIES
ONE CUP OF SUGAR
ONE CAN OF 7-UP
FRESH STRAWBERRIES
6 WHOLE CITRUS (some combination of lemons, limes, oranges, or tangerines,,,use 6 of them peeled and sectioned.)

I prepare the mix (minus snow) and let it marinate for 24 hours inside the fridge.
Then I fill the pail with snow and fill with the mix.
I reccommend metal cups to drink from.

It will knock you on your ass.

I guess snow is a big thing down south. Up here, we'd just chuck the stuff outside and party with it. Let me make a Snowball Punch for you. Open wide. It'll knock you on your ass.

Interesting...I think that would work poured over shaved ice from a snowcone machine, too. Thanks.

'Tis the season! . . . Again

This isn't a cookie recipe, but it's a tasty appetizer, or so we found out on Thanksgiving when I went through my cupboard looking for anything that might make a good spread or dip.

Greek Bruchetta

In a blender add:

6 or 8 plain sun-dried tomatoes
Half a jar of tomatoes packed in oil
6 pitted Greek kalamata olives
1 very small clove of garlic (optional)
1 sprig fresh marjoram
1 sprig fresh rosemary
Chopped fresh parsley

While blending, add extra virgin olive oil until of the proper speading consistency. Sea salt and fresh ground pepper can be added to taste, but should not be necessary. The sweet flavor of the tomatoes will already be complimented by the salt of the olives. Watch the garlic, too. It can over-power the dish, so go sparingly.

Serve with crusty bread.

It's not exactly a cookie!

Growing up, we never had christmas cookies, we had Christmas Candies. This was always one of my favorites, and it still is. It sounds weird, but if you love pnut butter, you'll love it.

Irish Potato Candy

(5) 1 pound boxes of powdered 10x Sugar
(1) Jar of Peanut Butter (your choice of style)
(1) tsp Vanilla
(1) cup mashed potatoes

Make the mashed potatos. Instant is better, lumps are a big problem later. Make them stiff, but not too hard that you can work with them.

Lay out a (2) long rolls of waxed paper and cover with powdered sugar

Add vanilla to taters.

Add one box of powdered sugar at a time to the mash potatoes and work as though you would a dough.

(It is usually the 3rd box of sugar before it starts to really harden to dough)

When you have a nice firm dough, break in half. Using one of the doughs,
Roll it out so that it will be "tube" style., about 3-4 inches wide and very very long.

Spread pnut butter across the "dough", but do not touch the edges.

Roll the "dough" up in a tube.

Use a knife (rinse frequently in water) and slice into pieces.

Repeat with the other half.

It helps if both tubes are done simultaneously, as this dough hardens quick.

Refrigerate if left for more than a few days.

Enjoy!

Chocolate Filled Snowballs

CHOCOLATE FILLED SNOWBALLS

1 c. soft butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. nuts
1 pkg. Hershey's kisses candy
Powdered sugar

Beat butter, sugar, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add flour and
nuts. Blend well; chill dough. Remove foil from Hershey's kisses candy.
Shape dough around each kiss using 1 teaspoon dough for each. Be sure Kiss
is covered completely.

Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
Don't over-bake! While still warm, roll in powdered sugar and cool.

Not a cookie, technically, but de-licious! :)
I made them for Turkey Day and I came home with an empty container. :( LOL.

Tube of refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough
Chocolate covered peanuts
Mini-marshmallows
Butterscotch ice cream topping

Smash the cookie dough flat into a jelly roll pan. (9x11 is what I used, but the bigger the pan, the farther your recipie will go. :))

Bake at whatever temperature the package says- until edges are just starting to brown, and the center is set.

Take it out, and sprinkle the chocolate covered peanuts, mini-marshmallows, and drizzle the butterscotch topping.

Put it back in the oven until marshmallows swell and just start to 'toast'. (about 6 minutes.)

Ta-da! :D

The recipie really calls for 2 cups of chocolate covered peanuts, 1 cup of mini-marshmallows, and 1/2 cup butterscotch topping.
The first time I made it I followed it, the next time I put what I wanted on it. :)
I also discovered that chocolate covered peanuts do not 'sprinkle'. So I placed them on one by one so that it was evenly covered. :D

P.S. I also used name brand cookie dough the first time, but the second time I used Great Value from Walmart, and it was fine. It was also cheaper. :)

Jack Daniels Fudge (Making this for gifts)

Ingredients

o 1 (12 ounce) packages semi-sweet chocolate chips
o 1 cup Jack Daniels Whiskey ( Blackjack)
o 2 (1 lb) boxes powdered sugar
o 1 cup chopped pecans or 1 cup chopped walnuts

Directions

1. Melt chocolate bits in a microwave or double broiler, stirring frequently.
2. As soon as chocolate is melted, mix Jack Daniels with the powdered sugar in a large bowl, and add to the melted chocolate, stir well, add nuts.
3. Turn into a 13x9x2-inch pan and cover with plastic wrap.
4. This sets quickly and you want to cool it long enough to set but still warm enough to cut.
5. Since this is a no cook recipe regarding the booze be careful how much you eat and don't serve to minors.

I'm going to try and make these this year! Gluten free!

Polish Almond Cookies

Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 60 minutes
Yield: 2 dozen Polish Almond Cookies
Ingredients:

* 7 ounces sugar
* 2 large egg whites
* 7 ounces ground almonds
* 2 to 3 drops almond oil or 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
* Pinch cinnamon

Preparation:

1. In a medium bowl, whip the egg whites until they are stiff. Gradually add half the sugar while continuing to whip. The meringue should be so stiff, you can cut it with a knife.

2. Heat oven to 350 degrees. In a separate large bowl, mix together the ground almonds with the rest of the sugar, almond oil and cinnamon. Stir in a dollop of meringue mixture to lighten the nut mixture. Then, gently fold in the remaining meringue mixture, trying not to deflate the volume.

3. Using a scoop, drop equal portions of cookie batter onto a parchment-lined sheet pan. Bake about 15 minutes or until cookie bottoms are lightly brown and the tops are crackly. Cool completely on a wire rack.

Thanks. These have been a tradition in my family for over 40 years. Snowballs and my great-grandmother's butter cookies, grandma's sugar cookies, Great-aunt Alice's oatmeal chocolate chips and my mother's fudge. I don't make the divinity passed down by my other grandmother because it's a hell of a lot of work. Sometimes I make caramels--but only when Dad gives me fresh hickory nuts. I didn't get any this year. My sister makes Mom's toffee. Again, it's too much work, so I don't do it. The caramels are my recipe, something I developed when I was in high school and we were winter-locked on the farm.

Enjoy the snowballs. They truly are a treat. They're not hard to make, but take a little time. Just be sure not to over-bake or they'll be hard as brick bats.
