I just don't get all this business about standing in line for hours at the store to buy gifts that people nine times out of ten are just going to return.

And who is this Santa Claus guy anyway? I don't recall ever endorsing this person. "Knows when you're sleeping, knows when you're awake", sounds pretty creepy to me.

The modern Santa Claus is a 19th Century Madison Ave creation largely lifted from "Der Nikalaus" of Germany/Holland and based on the ancient figure St Nicholas

The current figure clearly is commercial and exhibits certain deviant behaviors.... not least of which wanting children to "sit upon him."
