I also was raised a Lutheran, even went to their school, and had a wonderful father. Most of my Christmas memories were very pleasant. I agree, its time to be kind and move on.

I haven’t fully converted to fabric wrapping, but I’ve started. And we do the same one type of wrapping paper per person. It’s so much easier!

I just went looking for the article I read some time back about how Okies (the mother who raised me is half Okie, actually Irish, but everyone in my hometown would call my grandpa an Okie) tend to put oranges in stockings. And then fell down a rabbit hole about how the tradition goes even further back than the Great Depression.
