The problem I have with christians (mostly) is that their belief is that anyone who isn't christian deserves less than they do. They believe that because they chose the right god that they get a special place to go after death and that everyone else not in their club is literally going to burn for all eternity.....AND somehow it's their job to convince you that you should join their club.

And, that everything in the universe was created specifically for them.

And somehow they think this doesn't make them pompous assholes.

But hey, they can be pompous assholes....I would just prefer that they admit that they are ones.

And the joke is on them, because they'll die and find out that they were wrong.

Religions suck. Period. They are about control through dogma. I'm not a fan of patriarchal religions. Hell even Buddhists turned Buddhism misogynistic.

They're kind of neck and neck. Personally I find Christians more annoying because I have to deal with them more often. Muslims are too small a minority in America to cause trouble like the Christians do.

Good question:

The abuses of Islam and the problems with that faith have been well documented, both their repressive governments, militant violent streak, and subjugation of women and trampling of individual liberties. The main problem with that faith: The militants have taken the upper hand long ago and merged it with an uncompromisingly brutal state authority and draconian laws. (What Rightguide et al. calls "Liberty.") And the history of the Islamic faith was one of expansion by military conquest, even at the outset, whereas Christianity did not militarize until the late Roman Empire, three hundred years after it started, and it really didn't get in an expansionist mindset until the middle ages, largely in response to Islamic military expansion.

Christianity was, at it's core, more or less a peaceful cult of forgiveness, charity, love and mercy, until it, too, was corrupted by militants who preach a very different doctrine than what Jesus emphasized. What we are seeing today in this country by Christian militants is very similar to what we have seen in the Islamic world for generations: A desire for State power, to use government as a tool to rule with an iron fist and subjugate it's citizens (particularly women) to harsh draconian laws that trample out individual freedoms in the traditional sense. In other words: Their vision for America is similar to the current society in Iran or even Afghanistan, or in Margaret Atwood's "Handmaid's Tale." This is where the more spiritual, moderate, Christ-centric Christians need to stand up and push back and reclaim the faith- and the country- from these would-be Ayatollahs.
