Choosing the Lube

Okay, so I really would like to give anal sex a try. My boyfriend has used a plug on me(with our current lube) and I took that without much fuss and enjoyed it quite a bit. However, the next time I needed a little more time and the lube kept losing its oomph, then I got annoyed and tired of it and haven't wanted to try again since.

I am now searching for some new lube to try out and have quickly become blown away by the bazillions of options. I need some guidance here, please.

From what I can tell silicone-based appears to be synonymous with longer lasting. Is there a reason I'd rather a water based lube when there are no allergies present to require it? Once that's tackled... does it really matter what brand I select or are there some tried and true brands that I should be looking at?

Thanks ahead of time for any input!

Astro glide or KY jelly. There are some who prefer the first because it is supposed to be better. I prefer which ever, first get some inside you and then let him in. Email and let me know what happened.

Fleatopia, Hi. There's a funny and long thread here at lit on this topic, you might like a look through (the Blank Manual has some great information)

Lit thread

My personal favourite lube and it seems like I'm mentioning here all the time (perhaps I should have shares in the company?) Pjur Eros BodyGlide Original silicone based, superslippery, non irritating (made by folk who make medical grade products) no flavour, no scent, the bottle lasts forever, stays slippery forever -- great for anal play, massage, and just about anything else. It's my number one recommendation for lube. KY dries up and is revolting in my opinion.

Pjur USA

Personally, I would suggest using WET.

It comes in 'Light' (which is more watery) and 'Original' (which is much thicker) and ALSO comes in 'Unscented' and a whole assortment of scents/flavors.

Just have fun finding out which one you and your boyfriend like best.

Check out this page for some great info on lube.

I personally like the Maximus they sell on that site. It is pretty thick but lasts forever. Very slippery and good feeling.

By the way, Maximus is a water-based lube but still pretty thick.

I think I'm going to give Maximus a try. I'm looking for something a bit heavier and with some staying power. Should it not hold up to the testing we'll give it, then I'll give Pjur a whirl.

Thanks a bunch for the responses! I really want to make sure that my first attempt at anal sex isn't my last due to lube that can't keep up with our demands.

One word: ASTROGLIDE! Awesome product, just like your own natural lube. I've used K-Y for years, and I have found that after awhile it gets 'sticky' and 'dried out'. Not with Astroglide, says wet all night long! (No pun intended)
