Did anyone else see the article on the news about that young blonde woman who walked her 4 year old daughter to her SUV, put her in the car, and then started beating her for over a minute, half the time with a closed fist? She's gone incognito, but the police are worried that the daughter will come to more harm, considering the mom beat her in public (it was caught on video tape in a parking lot of a store in Indiana), and what could she do behind closed doors?

Why would someone do such a thing to their kids?! I don't understand! I'm literally outraged by this... and.... good lord.... I just don't know what to say.

It is appalling that a child should be treated in this way.

I think sometimes people are just so frustrated. It's like a sickness.

We just have to make sure we do things differently with our own children.

This is terrible. It happened in my hometown. I work three blocks from the store where it took place.

Here's a link, if you haven't already heard the story. It's absolutely horrible.

That is truly sad.:(

It makes you wonder if there shouldn't be a test for people before they become parents.

I saw the video on Fox this evening but had the audio muted and missed where the beating of this child occurred. When the mother thought no one was watching she beat the crap out of her daughter for what seemed like an eternity. Since I am from Indiana too if this "Mother of the year" turns out to be in my town at Walmart I will teach her some manners and point her to the error of her ways........PDQ

I saw it on the evening news... stupid bitch looks left and right to see if anyone was watching before the beating commenced not realizing the outside cameras were on her... they got her pic from inside the store, but can't locate where she is right now... I;d like to beat the shit out of her for a while to see how she like its. The girl is only four years old and the mother was viciously punching her in the head.

That was in your hometown? Wow.

Yeah, I saw the video also today. This tiny little girl, being walked to her car with this blonde woman, and when she gets the little girl in the back seat, she looks around and then starts walloping her. then she stopped, perhaps to make sure the little girl was safely buckled into her seat. then the mother looks around again and throws what looks like a closed fist punch into the area where the little girls head should have been.

This did seem to last for an eternity. This woman needs to see how she likes this.

This was really horrible. I hope someone turns her in. They got the license plate number from the video, but said the family of the vehicle was not much help.

As a mother.. I can't ever imagine doing such..

I bet she is literally shitting her pants now that it has been plastered all over the news. Now those who know her.. or thought they did.. know what a terrible person she is.

We all make mistakes as parents.. and I can honestly say there are times I would really enjoy beating my children.. but it is just a thought.. one never carried through with.. I rarely even spank my children.. as I don't condone hitting a child in anger. I really hope they find her soon.. and make sure her daughter is okay.

I am not one to curse much.. but I am fairly speechless.. and all I can really say is.. that is fucked up!

I just saw the film on the evening news....I am not sure which is stronger...my anger and disgust with the mother or my sadness for this poor beautiful little girl....

This is an example of why I wonder about the saying, "It doesn't take a village to raise a child, it takes two parents."

What if one of those parents is beating the shit out of a poor kid too small to defend herself?

That woman can't hide forever. I just hope they catch her before she hurts that little girl again.

I Watched That Shit On The Late Night News!

Man!

That Chick Is Way Lucky, Me Or Somebody Like Me Wasn't Around. I Woulda Held Her Face Down In The Parking Lot Til Somebody Brought A Police Officer Around!

I Understand Rage, But Some People Are Whacked, Wired The Wrong Way:rolleyes: I Have Lost It, But Never On The Kid.

Yeah I seen that on the noon news. It was quite shocking to see that even in my fair state of Indiana.

I really hope they find her and lock her away for awhile, or even better have a bigger person punch and slap her.

I Am.

I Have Splendid Manners And A Calm, Quiet Demenour:D

Honest.

Though I Am Having A Really Hard Time With Spelling This Evening! LOL

That Woman Made Me Wanna Just Grab, Then Punish Her.

Since I am from Indiana I would like to say that that woman was NOT a fellow Hoosier. She was from Texas. (not saying that Texans are horrible either)I don't want her giving us Indiana women a bad name.

I would NEVER EVER IN A MILLION YEARS hit a child that way. OMG that was horrible!!

When I first heard the "Next on the news: a woman caught beating her child in an Indiana parking lot" I was like "Good lord, she was probably just spanking them because they acted up in a store" then I watched the footage and was like "OMG!!! That's horrible!!!"

I see absolutely NO need to punch a little bitty girl in the face!! Let alone hit her nearly as severe as that woman did! I am absolutely disgusted by this!

Survivor's opinion

As a survivor of an abusive childhood in Indiana, I will tell you with certainty that the state will do precious little to anyone abusing a child in private or caught on video. Some of the worst offenders have rarely seen prison sentences, more likely the children in question are placed in state care and the parents chastised with probation, suspended sentences and court ordered therapy.....Pardon my bitterness but we are talking about a legal system where career drunk drivers are given their licenses back, animal cruelty is not considered a crime and felons awaiting trial for violent assaults are released by indifferent judges due to jail overcrowding.....Given those examples of 'justice' you really expect the state of Indiana to be concerned that a child is 'disciplined' by their parent in public ?

I saw the same story on the news and could barely believe it. Part of me was shocked they would air something like that over and over. It looked like they were well off, some reason I figured money problems caused a lot of cases like that but obviously not all the time.

It is rarely about money... Poorer people do not abuse children more than Rich people.. it is about power.. and having the ability to harm... Needless to say.. had this been another adult with this women.. she would not have behaved thusly..

I am from Indiana as well.. and Fallen.. while your statement is cynical.. it is sadly very, very true. Perhaps with all the media coverage though.. the state will be compelled to be more proactive in this case, but only if the media coverage continues.. if it falls away.. so will Justice.

I saw it on the news while I was eating and almost choked. It was horrifying to see that woman punch her little girl in the face so many times. People like that disgust me. I hope she gets what she deserves.

Sadly, what fallen says is true. Indiana is pretty lax on some of the abuse laws. Some of the more infamous cases of child abuse have happened in Indiana, and this only adds to the list.

The situation is so noteworthy that our top-40 radio station has an annual charity fund where the morning show DJ's live on top of a grocery store roof for a week to benefit Child Abuse Prevention Services.

I've added contact information to my sigline. While I'm not normally one for grandstanding for "causes," it's my response to the sickening nature of this act. And since Lit has members from all over America (and, of course, the world, though it probably won't come down to that), there's the offchance that it might help.

And of course, what capricious says is also true: perhaps the attention this case has gotten may just inspire change to the system.

Indiana Trivia

Here's one for the books.....Did anyone know Charles Manson was from Indiana, as a young child his mother abandoned him in an Indianapolis tavern, he was taken to the Boy's Home in Plainfield, IN where he was repeatedly sodomized and brutally beaten by inmates and staff. In his early teens he escaped and fled to California, everyone knows his story there.....
