So the husband has to travel at the end of the week and I get two nights of uninterrupted control over the TV! MWAH HA HA HA :D

I thought I'd take the opportunity to indulge myself with all the chick flicks he won't watch with me. The problem is: I'm so out of touch with what's been happening in cinema, that I have no idea of what's out there. The very last movie I saw was about a month ago (Ms. Pettigrew Lives for a Day).

So c'mon ladies, help me out. What are your fave chick flicks? Thanks!

Well, the only one I'd recommend is No Reservations. Of course, being a guy, chick flicks aren't really my thing, but this was one I could tolerate watching with my wife. I like the subtle nod to the eroticism of food in this one.

Guilty pleasure is Sweet Home Alabama. Josh Lucas and that drawl. mmmm

Pretty Woman's class.

However, for the ultimate chick flick I can't resist a slice of old Hollywood... Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck in 'Roman Holiday' is a definite favourite!

Otherwise, Reality Bites (Ethan Hawke) or Point Break (Keanu Reeves / Patrick Swayze) are both cool!

Two good Korean flicks: Il Mare and My Sassy Girl

I've always been allergic to chick flicks but those two kick ass. Btw Il Mare was adaptated in Hollywood as "Lake House" which sucks, and MSG too (and it sucks too). Watch the original versions gorram it!

I really liked "dear frankie" (released 2005) it's a british movie with gerard butler (yummm) and it's sweet and funny without being totaly mushy. it's one of the only chick flicks i'd actually recommend.

I'm not much of a chick flick fan, but I'm interested in seeing Ms. Pettigrew and wondered what you thought of it. :)

Im a guy.. but Stranger than Fiction is a good movie.. not really a chick flick i think but it involves a man and a woman.. lol its very good:D

27 Dresses
Bridget Jones's Diary
13 Going on 30 (even my boyfriend sat through this and said it wasnt bad)
Stranger than Fiction wasnt bad
The Holiday
Love Actually

that's about all that's coming to mind right now. Hope the suggestions help.

I think you should watch as many Viv Thomas videos that you can. You can supplement these with others from the "Liaison" series and thornhill series.

;-)

I loved it. It was light hearted and fun, but given the time period (just before WWII), there was also enough seriousness mixed in to keep the movie balanced (IMO).

Some great suggestions here, many thanks! Has anyone seen P.S. I Love You? I happened to catch a couple of clips on HBO and wondered if it was worth seeing.

Thanks again for all the suggestions and keep them coming! Even if I don't get to them this weekend, I'll have a good stash for the next time he goes out of town. :D

It's usually classified as a romantic comedy rather than a chick flick, but I love High Fidelity.
