For some time now, a board member named Cheyenne has been working as a self apointed sheriff at Literotica. Now she has driven off a member who was okay and who made sense most of the time. I read Shadow's old posts and i don't see any lies, like she said.

So the question is: do you want Cheyenne to keep chasing people around the board or should she cool her jets?

I suspect your question isn't in good faith since you seem to have a bit more invested than I suspect a newcomer would have in a personal feud. It seems inauthentic, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

It's generally bad-form for a newcomer to start stirring shit on his/her very first post. You won't make any friends with a poll like this.

That's nice Shadowsource. I am glad you really feel the need to perpetuate this all by being a troll.

That's really nice and honorable. Maybe you should stop. HUH?

Why? I, and most others here have no respect for trolls, and for those who use devious means of showing up others, such as you did with Siren's PM about Cheyenne. Liar? Well, I know not of these things, but I know a rat when I see one.

In other words, I take back every good thing I said to you in that email and PM.

I highly doubt this persona will be a permenant one here at lit.
You say?

He was too strong a personality to be "Driven" away. He elected to go. Not because Cheyenne was too tough (about whatever it was they were arguing about), but because he didn't get enough backing and support from people like you. He left because he felt that no one (or not enough) people were sticking up for him, so why stay.

So, maybe we should take a poll on whether or not to ban you.

she should do whatever she wants ... this place is about free speech and freedom of expression

as long as she doesnt post personal information and real life stuff or resort to "dirty tricks" as far as im concerned she can say whatever she feels

i respect her for doing that at least she uses her real nick when she makes those posts

and just for the record (i've always wanted to say that) i dont think anyone can be run off from lit by one or two posters ... if shadowsource left that was his choice ... there was a number of posters that said they were wanting him to stay

Dude..

Please..

Just go meditate..some deep cleansing breaths.

In and Out

Why is this still worth it?

Listen..I don’t care if shadow lied or if Cheyenne lied and said shadow lied.

It’s this stuff that’s just pathetic.

And you know..I’ve heard someone say that the newbies open these “drama” threads and post.. unwittingly keep them to the top.

And it’s true. They do walk in with these impressions of other people…whether they are being entirely misinformed by a user gone postal, or not.

There is no reason to slander someone that you don’t like for fun or revenge.
It simply changes the entire dynamic of the way that the rest of the board looks at things.

Looking through your own personal kaleidoscope…all the time.

Who is Cheyenne? Who is Shadow? I am so out of touch! At any rate, I like to argue (I prefer to say debate) so bring it on! No need for anyone to leave!

If I had to guess I'd agree with you, but seeing all the turmoil caused by accusations of "I think x is y", I'm coming to believe it's counterproductive to worry about people's aliases on the board. It's obvious that there's a lot of deception and subterfuge on the board, but I'm tired of the melodrama caused by constant accusations. I have my own means for suspecting posters to be legit or not and I adjust my opinions of them as data comes in.

I'm doing a weird little experiment. The BB world is bizarre - how do we know anyone here is who they say they are? How do we know they're even a "who" in the first place? I have a friend who's at MIT doing artificial intelligence work and in a discussion we had I mentioned this board and he told me that he could probably write a program that could post as a member of this board. It would need a supply of provided "memories" with which to write about (as we all have), a fairly basic algorithm regarding syntax and other common conventions of written communication, and a much more complex algorithm by which the program could recognize words or combinations of words in other people's posts and thereby choose which of his "memories" and "opinions" to relate in response.

He was convinced that with a good bit of work this program could become quite a convincing dull poster (much like HardkoreBJ, who incidentally I suspect just might be an AI program from the mind of a very demented programmer ;)).

The conversation reminded me of something Weird Harold said a long time ago during the great DCL/Madame Pandora troll war. He mentioned that he regards all discourse here as a kind of a game - he disembodies posts from other people and imagines them to be nothing but inputs to which he can respond. If it turns out that I'm not a person, but a very complicated AI program on a mainframe connected to a database of medical knowledge, fabricated "memories", and crackpot opinions, how would that change how you react to me?

Now that I mention it, maybe that's basically what I am. Maybe we're all just very complicated AI programs, programmed not by a designer, but by evolution, with a set of parameters to which our enviroment and life experiences have fine-tuned the knobs to a sharp deterministic result. From this perspective, our notion of free will vanishes. But then how do we explain our apparent ability to act freely? I certainly feel like I'm choosing how I respond to other posters. I could have told Mori "fuck off" or "yeah, Mori. I think Cheyenne's a bitch!" or "mice like to eat cheese" or "KM has great tatas". Or at least I think I could have told him any of these things. But maybe I couldn't have. Perhaps our notion of free will is an illusion built into our programming because it serves an evolutionary survival function.

Ummm... I got way off track. My point is that if you start to treat other people as beings whose actions are 100% deterministic, you somehow can't get upset with them anymore - they behave as programmed. It's obviously ridiculous to get mad at the KidRock-Trollbot, isn't it? And why is that? Obviously, because it can't behave in any way other than how it's programmed. We only get mad at that which we believe could have been different.

How should we then behave toward other people? Reciprocal altruism seems the best method to me. Some "programs" will treat you badly. If they do, cut your losses and don't interact with them anymore, or at least don't allow yourself to be exploited by them. But until they treat you badly, it's in your interest to treat them well - life's a non-zero sum game and playing nice is to your benefit if others place nice too.

In summation, treat others as you would like to be treated, (Heard that before?) but if they don't treat you like you want to be treated, move on. There are lots of programs out there willing to cooperate.

Sure you can vote. Register like anyother person here has.

As to Cheyenne, I have never had any problem with her, or Shadowsource.

I don't see her as policing the boards. I don't see him much at all, though in the posts that have been pointed out, I have to say, I would never confide anything in him about any member here, whether I liked the person or not.

As to driving someone away? She doesn't have the power to do that. If he has a backbone (which I strongly suspect he does), then it is his own choice. He doesn't follow the lemmings, he does have a mind of his own, a computer of his own, and his own IP. Short of banning him, no one can force him to go away. And she can't ban last I checked.

So, newbie, grow up, post under your real name, since you seem so comfortable here, or leave.

Cheyenne

she really does suck! This thread calls her name like a bansheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Heeheeeheeeheee
