He was so raddled by drugs when he recorded what I'm listening to but - Oh! - he could sing and play like an angel.

No problem, I just like jazz and happened to get a particular edge from Chet to-day.

Tomorrow Mulligan. :)

Im in the mood for older Miles today-

Sketches of Spain

which is almost symphonic in it elegance...

simplistic and layered and otherworldly-

thanks for the inspiration-

and then after sundown I think we go back to

Rockin in the Free World...:rose:

My saxophonic hero!

I worked a lot of years to have a sound that even approaches his. :)

Jimmy, have you heard Harry Allen?

Yep! I have a CD somewhere around here with him on it, unless I lent it to a friend. I seem to do that too often.

I'm a die-hard bari sax fan, mostly because that's what I play and it's really difficult to find standout players. Mulligan was the man, and Stephen "Doc" Kupka of Tower of Power has a big easy sound. Of course, there's Lisa Simpson, too. ;)

I've heard of him, but not his stuff.

You're such a tenor sax girl, aren't you? ;)

Sexiest instrument on the earth. There's nothing like hearing an accomplished player noodling for himself.

My SO would kill if he read this, he plays slide trombone.

Heh. Tromboninsts are just trumpeters whose mouths are too big. ;) Then again Mr dorsey did know how to make one sing!

I like the bari mostly because there are sounds you can get form that horn you just can't get from any other instrument. It's funky, sexy, solid - you name it. :D
