Let me start by saying I was unfaithful. ONCE. So, maybe I deserve what I am receiving. She did get me back, I guess, by hooking up with someone shortly there after and meeting up for sex while I was out of town on a business trip. I took it as, well, I guess we’re even. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. We’re moving on.

Fast forward a few years and she’s got a friend. No hiding this friend. Tells me about him. Tells me all about him. He’s a prison guard, two kids, wife’s an alcoholic, etc etc. Anyways, I don’t think much of it until I realize her actions - guarding phone, iPad, computer.

Finally, I decide, let me check. I look at her texts on the iPad, and nothing. No texts to/from him. OK. Cool. I check her email. BINGO. Emails containing text from my wife as......

Your such a nice guy.
I think of you a lot.
I hope we can bring this friendship further.
You make me feel good.
I love you.

Could list more, but I think you get the point.

I confront her and she says he’s ‘just a friend’. Going through a tough time. But I don’t believe her.

I will say, I have seen noting in response to her forwardness. No ‘I love you’ in returns. Nothing.

Is this guy just smarter at hiding their relationship than her?

We’ve been together 25 years, married 20. Two teenagers.

Trying to decide what to do.

,

I have been down this road many times. I am a believer in poly arrangements
And casual outside hookups but if the person is too romantically inclined
It damages the primary relationship. I have dealt with your exact problem
I am not a cut and run guy but I would say
That you should not expect any improvement in this.
I bet no I am sorry was said. My wife was in a relationship with the dude in an experienced poly couple and his wife forced him to cut it off.
The primary relationship has to be primary, if the person is too romantic the limits will be crossed. You should have some low level outside relationships to even it out.
The sex is not the important part.

Between the lines...

It's not about sex. It's not about him. He's filling an emotional void. She's not happy. He's listening and being nice, and she thinks this means it's love. It's so poorly hidden. She wanted you to do something.

What you did was sex. It's a different motivation.

Marriage counseling might help. You've both fucked up in one way or another. You need to see the pain you cause each other and learn.

I personally believe in marriage counselling for even healthy relationships but lying cheating whores don't often respond to it. I assume it's because they're dead inside and their bodies have been taken over by demon spawn. It's really the only explanation.

sissy here, you have 20 years of marriage. How is this marriage based? Did you use to trust her? Why not now?
You stated you cheated first so what is bothering you? If you cheated then something was wrong to start with. Think you should try counseling and being totally honest with each other and believe what the other is saying. If you can't trust it is over anyway.

This is just the impression that this sissy gets.

There are billions of women roaming the planet. Find a better one.

Every lock has a key, and being the positive people-person that I am, I was offering hope.

I'm a giver.

If he cheats on the new one it'll just be a mistake, not like the huge betrayal his wife was planning.
