Changing pending dates on new stories.

I've noticed that some of my stories get published quickly (within 1-3 days after posting them).
However, some of my stories stay for up to 2 weeks. Interestingly, the date I sent them keeps changing, as if I sent them later.
Does anybody know what is the reason?
Could it be that one reviewer is unsure whether to accept it or not and transfers the story to another reviewer while changing the date?

To the best of our knowledge there only one reviewer, Laurel, who owns the site.

If a story goes through quickly, that means it passes whatever scrutiny tools the site uses with a clean slate.

If it takes longer, it usually means the story is getting closer scrutiny for some reason.

Or: there's a contest running, and those stories get priority.

This time, my issue has nothing to do with the time it takes for the story to be published.
It has to do with the CHANGING PENDING/RECEIVING TIME of the story.
For example, they got the story 15 hours ago. After 3 days in the pending area, all of a sudden it shows that the story is pending 12 hours.
