The title for the next "roll your own" poem challenge is "Foaf". This word is a fairly recent acronym that stands for "Friend of A Friend". I first heard the word on the NPR program "You Don't Say" which is a word game program. Originally it was used in journalism to refer to unconfirmed sources, such as the originator of an urban legend. It is now used in law enforcement, by the drug culture, and by computer programmers where it is some kind of a code or format (?). (Do a Google search and see if you can understand it.)
Anyway, "friend of a friend" can refer to a multitude of things and relationships (even Rowdy Ted), so we should get a wide variety of interpretations.
I suggest that we plan on a submission date of Friday, February 7, 2003. So that all the poems will appear on Saturday the 8th. This will give everyone the weekend to enjoy and digest each others' interpretations and style.
Regards, Rybka
