Challenge - How Distinctive Is Your Writing?

I guessed skip's purely by how i thought he would write. Not after looking at FtF's

I also guessed Drk based on the level of description and i also considered his general conversation's with me and how he presents himself oh and also the use of horses. It did help however that he changed his AV to horses for a lot of the challenge!!! :)rolleyes: )

Dampy guessed mine on a few ambiguous details that she says 'remind her of me' and also a common typo i ALWAYS see corrected during official edit's - 'Breathe' instead of 'Breath'

The competition has made me want to read more people's stories, and i have to admit that i DID NOT read any extra stories during the comp coz i was away from home and had to print the stories. It's hard enough getting on the forum to print stuff at uni let alone the actual site!

And so, i shall make every attempt to read the author's who have particpated :)

And the wild cards. ;)

So why did people think I'd write about angels? I loved that I was most guessed for Group B 14 (RebeccaLeah's fantastic story), but... why?

As I have articulated to you, I always thought you were a romance writer. I did not get to you (or group B) in this challenge, but I might assume that angels may be rather dreamy and romantic and believing you write romance? I may assume ... certain things.

Can't speak for others, though, and it is just a thought, not what I may have guessed. :)

Well, maybe people see you as being angelic... :D

So, I read better than I write. Or something.

Ok, gotta go see who I managed to guess right. probably not the ones i think. ;)

You were one of the four who got me ... and two of the four don't count. ;)

I just combed through the voting thread to see which entries people most thought were me and definitely feel I'm in good company as the highest number of incorrect guesses placed me as the author of RebeccaLeah's and CharleyH's pieces. (In fact, more people guessed I wrote CharleyH's than guessed I wrote my own!)

I feel special. :cathappy:

Actually, looking at the results, I'm not all that suprised.

The ones I got right:

impressive - It felt like an Imp thingy. Sometimes gut feeling works.
Lauren Hynde - Easy as f*ck. Theme, style and language howled of Hynde.
Skip1934a - Read a story and the word choices matched.
CharleyH - Just as <bleep>ing easy as lauren. :D
Trombonus - No doubt after reading stories and comparing to the snippets.
jushorny - Lucky guess.
inlovewithyourghost - I was fairly sure, but not 100%
Matriarch - No-brainer.
Starrkers - I was pretty certain.
Stella Omega - No-brainer. Almost too obvious.
drksideofthemoon - Not entirely sure but a qualified guess.

I'd say you're a hell of a reader, then- the kind we all wish we could have more often! :rose:

Indeed!

Just looked now and see that those who I expected to know my writing? Know it well! Simple - but that's all I need to feel good. :D

I'd have been mortified if I'd missed yours, feel bad enough missing Lauren.

As many people thought I was Rachlou, as thought I was me, the rest of 'me' was scattered across 11 idenities, despite putting a clue in my new sig that would lead readers straight to me.

Incidentally - I'm coming 'clean', the blog will reveal all, over future weeks.

SimonB - getting him surprised me, first time I'd read him, yet recognised his style immediately.

Very enjoyable min. Thanks for all the hard work.

I'd just like to say that at least three of my incorrect guesses would have been correct if I had chosen my other suspect.

I think my method worked against me, being unwilling to change guesses if I'd already placed them previously. For about six of the stories I was unnecessarily influenced by the pattern of paragraphing.

And CVIV is absolutely fuming about being guessed so few times, especially since the piece was taken from a thread last year.

It's that collective attention span thing again...;)

Okay, I have all the entries and links pulled into a Word document. I'll take out drksideofthemoon's and i_love_u_in_me's (per their requests). Unless I hear otherwise, I'm assuming everyone else wants to play.

I'll plan to submit this from the Coming Together account by the end of the week. If you want to make edits, please get them to me ASAP. Thanks!

Not that it's really any of my business, but wouldn't it be safer to be an "opt in" exercise than an "opt out"? There's 35 pages to this thread and it's certainly possible that one or more people have no idea their work will be posted as part of a submission unless they tell you not to.
