I just saw a live demo of this thing called "Cell popping". They did it on cam in a BDSM chat room. It is considered fire play. You tape a plastic stencil on the skin of someone, then you heat up about 6 special cell popping tools over a can of Sterno. You outline the stencil with the tool placing dots spaced closely together. Rotate the tools as you go so you always have a hot one. This "pops" the cell and leaves a tiny bump. Then after 24 hours you can see the image on the skin. It's like tattooing only not permanent. Lasts from 2 to 6 months, then goes away. You could actually hear the popping as this Domme did a dragon on this man's back. He said from a scale of 1 to 10 it hurt him about 4. Though he also said he had a high pain threshold.
She said you could view some finished work at. artisticdomme.com.
I thought this was pretty cool stuff.

Hmmm...interesting. Of form of artistic expression with a mark that will be a reminder far longer than a bruise or a cut.

Using a stencil is news to me, as is using a special tool...

But using dental picks or disecting probes heated over sterno to "pop" skin cells and create a pattern is often called "devils fire". It's a pretty nifty way to play!

There is a very well-known Top out here in the Wichita area that specializes in Devil's Fire. It is something I am dying to try...

They very well could have been dissecting probes, she just called them "special cell popping tools". Yep, sounds like "Devils Fire" to me, sounds much better than cell popping. Ok that site seems to be wrong, I will try to get the right one for you.

The folks around here who do it generally use a stencil, as well. And some sort of tool that they specifically choose for the activity, but I've never paid close enough attention to be able to repeat what it is.

The stencils are cool because they generally result in a pattern a LOT like a tattoo or henna design.

Unfortunately, with my skin it would scar. I've seen cell popping marks last for MONTHS on some people. Mine would scar.

It looks awesome. I'd probably scar, too. But then again, I'd like that. I kinda think the scarring looks cool. Even better...when the scars can be felt. *sighs*

That is just dead cool. I would like to see that done. I'm going to have to dig into this.

that sounds pretty interesting. im wondering is a residual mark could be seen in the sun or if you tan even after the first mark is gone, like some scars show up. not that i tan. hell, im whiter then the monopoly man.

Ditto. I have very white, very sensitive skin and am prone to eczma and urticaria. Not a good mix for this kind of thing. I can't even have piercings.

The only thing I'd therefore consider would be a branding as nothing foreign would be put into the skin and I could expect it to be permanent anyway so it would be put somewhere discreet.

Looks like a lot of fun though and that tool on the artisticdomme website DOES look suspiciously like a dissection probe. I'm with EG on that one.

VelvetDarkness seems to have brought up the artisticdom site. I was told it was theartisticdomme.com or artisticdomme.com, I can't get any of those three to come up.

ok here it is

Cell Popping

Hello All,
I am the Artistic Domme and I see by your discussion you may have some questions about the Cell Popping demo I did a gentlemen recently. My web site is www.artisticdomme.com You can email me on my web site with any questions. Thank you
Connie

Man, I must live in a god damned vacuum. I've never even heard of this before.

Thanks for the new ideas in my head guys.

When I read "cell popping" I instantly thought about the phenomena that happens with nickel hydrogen battery cells that outgas hydrogen faster than the liquid catalyst can absorb it. When the bubble of hydrogen "pops" off of the surface of the cell plate and takes off a microscopic bit of substrate with it, thus damaging the battery in a way that can add up over time and lead to loss of capacity.

But your version sounds cool.

You don't necessarily live in a vacuum. I believe that "Cell Popping" is fairly new, at least in the aspect of body art / temporary tattoo, as opposed to batteries exploding.

The Devil's Fire (from what I can tell) seems like it is about using the fire play to produce an endorphin high in the recipient, but I haven't seen many references where Devil's Fire was being used to create BODY ART. (Please send me some links if you have that). BTW, if you're using a metal probe, doesn't the probe get hot on the hands of the USER? Oven mitts?

Obviously, fire play, branding, and body modification is almost as old as the human body itself.

Speaking from personal experience I can attest that The Artistic Domme is definitely a Mistress of this technique -- producing wonderful body art that lasts a while and reminds the owner of the experience.

Interesting
i could see myself allowing this to be done on parts of my body if i trusted the person enough

I know some people live in the PDX area, or near, and I thought I'd volunteer the information that there's going to be a cell popping demo at the Vancouver, WA Munch this Thursday.

Doubt anyone can make it, but couldn't resist posting the offer

Another Cell Popping Body Art Demo

For those of you who can't make the Vancouver, Washington demo, Artistic Domme is going to be in Seattle to do a demo at the Center for Sex Positive Culture (ex The Wet Spot) on Saturday, May 3, 2008.

The info is at this link.

charlie

P.S. I got my upper-thigh small triskelion re-done on Saturday night and as soon as I can, I'll post a picture.

*pouts, pawing at the computer screen* I've never heard of this before but I now have a new birthday present wish! Maybe if I'm a good girl I can get poked with hot probes...

I wonder how deep into the dermis the probe actually ruptures the cells? I wonder if this is in anyway similar to what you can do with violet wands with the right attachments, I've seen them used for marking using the electricity to create pinpoint burns in the skin. Anyone know how similar the two are?

well, i can tell you that a violet wand will leave marks on me for a couple of days, and that the experts in cell popping have warned me that it would probably scar me for life (fair skin)

I'll be ordering a cell popping kit at some point here shortly, and scarring is what I am concerned with. My girls are fair-skinned (though not as fair as you), and I do not want scars, no matter how potentially pretty they might be. So the plan is to order the kits and do a few test pops in different discrete areas of skin. If they don't heal, they will just be a dot, no big deal. If they do heal, we'll go ahead.
