Because we're foster failures, we now have five cats. They love Christmas... trees.

The first year, we figured instead of a real tree we'd put up a fake one so if (when ) they knock the tree over we won't have water damage.

It took less then two minutes for the little fuckers to bend it all out of shape. (I went to the garage to grab some ornaments. Rookie move)

Put an eye screw in the ceiling and hang the tree from a piece of monofiliment fishing line. Use 20# or heavier. They still climb, but they can't knock it over.

That's a pretty good idea. We did use 20# fishing line to tie the tree on two sides and it is in a corner. We also put the tree in a heavy cast iron base.

They also like to chew the leaves. They'll have fresh minty breath all month.
Now if I could teach my dog to do the same...

Or....you could make up a deterrent spray and douse the entire are.
My cats hated eucalyptus and lemongrass, but you'll have to figure out what yours dislike.

I like what you've done with your hair here. :)

Thank you. I have several wigs :D

Finally we got around to decorating the tree. The cats loved watching the progression until this happened:

That was yesterday. This was today:

She started to case the joint out. What she didn't count on was all the tree sap. She hopped around on three legs shaking her paw and then spent a good 30 minutes trying to clean it off. :D

She's an absolute beauty. Female gingers are rare.

She's closer to cream then ginger. The litter was two ginger boys, a cream boy and missy here. One of the gingers got adopted, and then we just couldn't give up the rest.

Oh dear god I'd have kept them all. Love gingers. Years ago my sister had three litter mates, one vibrant ginger and one cream a little paler than your girl. They were lovely lads. The girl was a fiesty tortie.

For the longest time we were devastated that we gave the fourth one up, then last week the new kitty mama (our neighbor) asked is she could borrow our vacuum because hers is broken. Turns out she basically blew up the engine while vacuuming chunks of leather the cat shredded off of their recliner. I now feel better about our choice.

Cat's in the tree.

A man left his cat with his brother while he went on vacation for a week. A couple of days before he came back, he called his brother to see when he could pick the cat up. The brother hesitated, then said, “I’m so sorry, but while you were away, the cat died.”

The man was very upset and yelled, “You know, you could have broken the news to me better than that. When I called today, you could have said he was in the tree and wouldn’t come down. Then when I called the next day, you could have said that he had fallen and the vet was working on patching him up. Then when I called the third day, you could have said he had passed away.”

The brother thought about it and apologized.

“So how’s Mom?” asked the man.

“She’s in the tree and won’t come down.”
