Hi, I'm new to this site and have a story I'd like to publish (my first!!!) but I'm a little confused by which category I should put it in. It's a conversational piece between two subs, one being a Sissy Boy. The protagonists don't have sex but the story revolves around their histories and their relationship with their Doms. They talk about but don't engage in any sexual acts together. I'm torn between Fetish, BDSM and Non Erotic. Any suggestions? Please be nice, this is my first time posting and these boards are intimidating.

Hi and welcome

Non-erotic doesn't have much of a readership, so you'd probably want to go BDSM or fetish. My gut feeling would be BDSM, particularly if you have a m/m relationship because outside of gay male and transsexuals & crossdressers, BDSM seems to be the most 'gay friendly' category.

Thank you. I was leaning that way but Sissy Boy stories don't seem to be well received in any category. Actually it's not m/m it a female sub and a bi curious male sub. Just from my quick perusal around the site I'm not expecting a high vote count. Again thank you so much.

I have a (clearly labelled) bi male story in BDSM and nobody batted an eyelid. BDSM, Transsexuals & Crossdressers and Novellas tend to have more open minded readers.

I was considering a disclaimer but I'm torn on whether they are a good idea or not. It might make people give it a pass if they don't like the subject matter but it may be better received. I'll take your advice and try BDSM. I suppose I'm a little worried that it won't be well received and I won't know if it's because of my writing capabilities or the subject matter. I don't have a story published yet so have nothing to compare it to. Hahaha I sound like a such a worry wart!!!! Okay then, BDSM with no disclaimer and let's hope my ego isn't too fragile if it tanks.
You're the best :):rose:

Remember the three rules of Literotica criticism:
1) Doesn't count at all if it was said by Anonymous. Unless its positive, then somebody liked you!
2) Constructive criticism is great, enjoy it if you get some. Somebody liked your work enough to want to make it even better!
3) You wrote it for free, they read it for free. If they whine at you, offer to give them back what they paid for it.

And the usual warning - some categories, Loving Wives being perhaps the most extreme example, are full of people with VERY STRONG OPINIONS about what is right and what is wrong and why your story is wrong. You are unlikely to change their minds, so write what you like, as good as you can, and let them stew in their own sauce.

I kind of enjoy seeing the haters froth away at my stories, the one that got in my craw was the anonymous wanker who tried to tell me what was wrong with my character, somehow inferring all kinds of extra knowledge about him from my one-page story. Bitch, please! If the writer doesn't know anything else about him, the reader sure as FUCK doesn't know any more about him.

Kind of brings out my inner murder-hobo just thinkin' about that... probably good that they are anon, and i'm on the other side of a 2000-mile-wide moat.

Hahahaha that's great advice, ty! I find it amusing someone would try to "write" your characters for you. I'm supposing they liked it or related to it enough that they had a more intimate knowledge of your story than they did. :):rose:
