Who do I contact for a dreadful error made by not myself, but by an editor? In the submission page for my story "The Marine, the Mistress, and the Mattress" I had written A Science-Fiction story involving a Marine experiencing PTSD, and marital difficulties. However, it was deleted and in it's place "A Soldier having marital difficulties" was in it's placed for category.

Anyone who has served in the military as I have, knows Marines are not referred to as Soldiers. However, whomever has re-written my category has opened me up to several attacks from Marines who have seen this error, and have taken it as a personal attack to them.

I don't know who to write to fix this and I have been through several different sites. Now I have to shut down accepting personal e-mail until this is fixed if ever, and I can't write any Marines back who have written me because they write under anonymous. Do you know what it's like being called names by an attacker you can't see or write for a situation that wasn't your fault?

I know the difference between a Marine and a Soldier, I am a sailor and my best friend is a Marine. He proof read the story but couldn't do anything about a category being changed or how it has undermined me and my efforts.

I would like to have the category fixed and I think writers should have the final say before it is published. If it can't be fixed, thank you for spoiling what was a wonderful story. NO Marine is going to read it if he thinks I don't know what I am talking about, but No Marines should leave comments anonymously, they should stand behind want they say if they believe that strongly about it.

I had an editor change a nationality ("Israeli" to "Egyptian") in the blurb to one of my stories--for no reason whatsoever. And you can imagine what problems that might have caused. You could try PMing Laurel or refiling the story with "Edit" added to the title and the blurb corrected and an explanation in the comment field. It didn't work for me, but it might for you. In the end, I appended a comment of my own to it to let the readers know the incorrect blurb wasn't my doing--but, of course, they don't see that until after they've read the story.

Send an immediate PM to Laurel.

Put HELP in the subject line. Be brief and to the point. Include links to your story and to the edited version or what needs to be changed.

Also add a disclaimer in the Public Comments area of the story. Say exactly what is happening, that you are waiting for the edited version, that the errors will be fixed as soon as possible.

Good luck.
