As for LW, surely a change must be in the works, despite all these years of thinking it’d never happen. If I had to guess, it’d be: “Cheating Spouses” vs “Consensual Non-Monogamy”

I would hope "Cheating Spouses" vs "Swinging" or something less clinincal sounding than "Consensual Non-Monogamy"

I agree it’s pretty dull, but I’d imagine it’d have to capture cuckold/hotwife/cuckquean/swinging. I just saw in the other similar thread PSG suggested Sharing. That’s probably more apt and snappier.

If it were up to me LW would be split into 2 categories.

One would be called Infidelity or Cheating & Infidelity.
The other would be called Hotwives, Sharing and Swinging.

Keeping it in the family.

Which does everything to reinforce that non-incest taboo does not belong there. And since there is no category for non-incest taboo (except Interracial) there is no place to publish it other than EC, which in reality is Miscellaneous Vanilla - a terrible place for something not quite so vanilla.

This is so genuinely great, thank you @Laurel and @Manu so much for responding to feedback on this The new category subtitle, "Trans love, lust, sex & self discovery," is wonderful too.

I'll probably put in a category change request for my cosplay story which likely belongs in crossdressing but ended up in transgender. With thousands and thousands of stories formerly in T&C I'm sure there are many miscategorizations that will have to get shaken out over time.

Ahhh this really makes me happy, I guess a leopard really can change his shorts!

I'm wondering the same thing. Doctor/patient? Priest/Parishioner? Any non-incest "taboo" topics I can think of -- that are allowed under Lit content rules -- seem so tame and vanilla compared to incest.

Taboo in general is culture and society dependent, and while Western society has shed much of its former taboos, Eastern cultures still have plenty of those. I imagine those kinds of taboos would be the primary subject for such a category.

It probably wouldn't be a very big category, who knows, but I don't see that it would be smaller than, say, the new CD category. It's great that some things can change on Lit, and I am happy that some people feel more at home in the new TG category, but as I said in another thread, these changes are likely based on who has Laurel's ear more than anything else.

It doesn't look like the stories within the original TG&CD category were split based on content (probably way too big of a task). The new CD category has a generic description, and when browsing, the newest story is from 2023. When submitting a new story, the option to select Crossdressing is not yet available either, so there will likely still be stories that should fall under CD that will be submitted to TG.

Realistically, all of my own stories fit better within the CD category, but are all grouped under TG right now. Has there been a change like this before? Should I wait for a bit before submitting a request to re-categorize my stuff?

A lot of the kinks covered by other categories are taboo to one degree or another.

I put a short in-law story into I/T on the basis of it's being taboo, but I don't think it would qualify as a fetish.

Waiting for the dust to settle seems like the best move. A lot of my stuff is kind of old, and I don't mind them being in the wrong category for the time being. More concerned about the continuity of some existing stuff fitting into the right category if I ever get around to submitting new stuff. Could just be a bit of minor OCD wanting stuff to fit together haha.

Hmmm.... I think that may have been a while ago. I made the suggestion for the updated LGBT 'sexual -> 'gender a couple of years ago, then it got the QIA added.
I used to be offended by the 'sexual term, which was old-fashioned and not exactly accurate. These days there's so much bastardisation of trans-anything that I've given up! The verb form still rankles and I wonder who has charge of the transgenderisation gun to fire at people to transgender them So many transgendered people got hosed with that thing: no wonder there are so many transgenders walking the street.

The only taboo I can think of that seems both thematically aligned with Incest and approximately as strong would be responsible adult with a minor, in whatever variation: teacher/student, priest/choirboy, etc. So effectively, yeah, pretty much just Incest in that category.

Several authors in the old T/C category are active on this forum. I was just curious if any of them were contacted or any of them have a complaint about which category their stories got assigned to.

I write predominantly in that category and was not contacted but have always felt that sissy/daddy stuff and futa stories should be in a different category that those that explore being transgender. If you pressed me, I couldn't tell you how to make that distinction other than I've described.

When I look at my Works list, they're all still labeled Transgendered & Crossdressers. In the Category lists, I think all of mine have landed in Transgendered. I guess I'll see if that holds true as the databases update over the next few days.

If Laurel sees the problem as Incest drowning out all other forms of Taboo she is correct. However, this won't change a fucking thing. The category will still be run over by incest. The only way to get all other Taboo out of the shadow of Incest is to separate Incest and Taboo into their own categories. Interracial is Taboo, and it gets its own category. Why can't Age Gap or some sort of Authority Taboo (doctor/patient, teacher/student, etc) get their own too?

This is bungled pretty hard.

Good reason to create sub categories Taboo/Incest, Taboo/Age Gap, Taboo/ Toe cheese fetish...

When I just checked, most of your stories are listed for me as Transgender, none as Crossdressing.

You got me curious. In my Works list, my stories are split between Crossdressing and Transgender. In the Category list, they're all Transgender. Interesting to see stuff get updated like this haha. At least it's looking like I won't need to submit a request for every story
