My disclaimer about this video: It was taken on a digital camera - not one specifically designed for video. The quality isn't great, and since this camera really works best for vids in full sunlight, it's kind of dark - you'll have to adjust the brightness on your monitor to see it well.

Goodbye

We have just come back from the vets, we took Elsa (more usually known as Elsie or Pumpkin) there this morning as she was very listless today. She was diagnosed as being in heart failure so we did the only thing we could and had her put peacefully to sleep. Mark, C and I were all with her as she slipped away. Attention seeking to the end she took her time, I think she was enjoying having her ears tickled.

Oh, so sad! Elsie looks like she was a great cat, and obviously much-loved.

I remember our cat slipping away peacefully ten years ago. Haven't had another since.

My cat died in January, she was very old and very loved. We had her put to sleep in the end too. Sad but peaceful because it was the right thing to do for her.

Our thanks go out to you all, BW, Morri, Sadie, Zuke and Emma for your kind words, they provide us with some comfort at this time, our other cat, Elsie's daughter is missing her mum like anything, she is wandering around looking for Elsie, coming to us both more often, she just wants her mum, they spent so much time together it will take her a long to get over her mum not being there anymore. :(

You know, it's funny how most people think of cats as being so aloof and distant... They really aren't... I have three here who are literally little slaves to me. They adore me, and I adore them...

It takes a long time, Mark. I lost my Annie some months ago, and it still hurts... And while I didn't mark it, per se, I do visit her grave. She's buried near the woods behind the house, where she loved to go hunting...

There's nothing anyone can say to make it hurt less. Just know that the other cat people here are holding all of you in warm hugs...
