Go see it!

No, really.

The new Bond guy was surprisingly good, and I wasn't expecting that.

And, they show him naked. :D (He works out.)

And, And, the new type of Bond Girl is cool: Brains, beauty, and she doesn't fall (immediately) into bed with Bond.

I give it two thumbs up.

It got amazing reviews. I always check out RottenTomatoes.com because they compile reviews from all over the net, magazines, and newspapers. It's got one of the highest ratings for an action movie I've ever seen. I've got the little one for the weekend (and she's not allowed to see Bond naked until she's 30), but I'll see it Sunday.

Just saw a snippet of an interview with the 'Bond' girl on the news, striking, and the comment was the same...smart...intelligent, but I didn't manage to get the actresses name...again...could search...late...another time....and I was prepared to shrug it off as not worth thinking about, let alone seeing... thanks...

I'm always in favour of a Bond film that returns to the roots of Fleming's character. And I don't mean Connery's Bond by that, as he was rubbish when compared with the Bond of the books. Brosnan came very close to nailing it in his first three films: a man who takes shallow pleasure in women, cards, smoking, drinking and games of skill because his life is all about cold, callous death. He's a bastard with an outer coating of bastard and the only two times he lets that slip (Casino Royale and Thunderball) he gets horribly, horribly crushed in a Joss Whedon character kind of way.

I have high hopes for this film, as Die Another Day was quite simply appalling and I'd very much like for the franchise not to die a painful horrible death.

Earl...I greatly enjoyed the Fleming novels but must admit I found little to like in any of the films although I did become a great admirer of the acting skill of Sean Connery, I love him in "The Russia House" with Michelle Phieffer, I think and I am not an expert on Fleming, or the Bond series as I viewed it as vicarious entertainment and not much more...but enjoyable, nonetheless.

An just as an aside, Pierce Brosnan...with Rene Russo in an old Steve McQueen remake...damn...movie name escapes me, displayed his merit as a fine actor...ah, The Thomas Crowne Affair...yes...that one I can watch more than once.

Right with you on that one. Calm, confident, effortless cool in a box that one.

Did you watch Goldeneye? Personally, I thought that was closest to Fleming's style, although obviously a tank chase would be a little hard to write in book style.

I'll spare you the trouble: Eva Green.

Haven't seen her act in anything I can remember. But damn, that's nice on the eyes.

Oh, yes, nice on the eyes for sure and that sharp, defined face, oh, my, were I only young again...sighs...

ami...

edited to add: I just followed your link, skinny little critter too, just the way I like 'em!

sighs...

Well, what are you waiting for? Hurry up and go see it! :)

I'm interested to hear what other Bond fans have to say about it.

TheEarl: I must admit I've never once picked up an Ian Flemming novel, but I've seen every single Bond movie ever made, more than once. This one appealed to me because Bond seemed more "human" than in other films. Don't know if that's the storyline speaking, the actor, or a combination of both.

Goldeneye was certainly a good one. Let's hope Craig has more momentum to carry him through more films than Brosnan did.

Tomorrow! I'm eager to see this.

I read all the Bond's when I was about 13. Good reads, but they'd be confusing to read now unless you knew something of the politics of the 50's & 60's.

Ian Fleming is my kind of writer. He wrote those books while on extended family holidays in Jamaica in a Vodka haze between three martini lunches and happy hour.

It's my new favorite now. It kicked so much ass. The screenwriters completely rebuilt Bond from the ground up. It was action-packed, dark as hell (like Fleming originally wrote him), they got rid of the silly & transparent sexual quips that I was dreading (and the script even poked fun at them in one scene), it had romance...

And the scene with the chair, Oh My God!

But it was one good action scene, eyh? :D Driving that tank right through St. Petersburg was simply awesome.

I watched the movie last friday and it was awesome. Its sort of Batman Begins to the Bond franchise ... completely telling the thing from scratch.

Daniel Craig was really great as a just promoted 00 Agent. He was kind of a brute, but that wasn't a bad thing. Brosnan for instance was way more sophisticated and played a superb gentleman agent ... but, especially Die another Day, looked more and more like Tool Times Gadget Corner, rather than a somewhat realistic action movie.

Casino Royale got rid of all that, and got back to basics ... which made a damn fine movie. I am really looking forward to see more of that kind of Bond ... and of that car ... I hope he gets a new one just like it. Boy was that a nice car ... same can be said about the Bond girl :D.

"You're not my type" ... "Smart?" ... "Single"

"I'm the money" ... "Every penny of it"

After the casting of Craig got blasted whereever you went, the movie really was a more than pleasent surprise. Please, more of this.

I saw it last Friday night and was also pleasantly surprised. I wasn't sure I'd like Daniel Craig as Bond, but he pulled it off.

Im not a Bond fan (books or films) and I cant quite get to grips with Daniel Craig playing the hardcore hero (so used to him on the telly here in UK) but the film is getting such rave reviews I may have to go see!

Wasn't sure what to expect either... my sis is more of the Bond films fan and i was the reader.... yes, i think Craig IS Flemming's Bond. Great action, good dialogue and the effects were there too. The building crumbling in Venice.... going to have to look at the details of that one. Well done.

I'm tempted to go see it again, just because I liked it so much. :)
You just want to see him in his bathing suit again--fess up!

Never did check back in here, but this was a good one. Too long, but a good new Bond.

Saw an interesting article lately about Bond girls. Actresses want the role, but for many, it hasn't done diddly for their careers.

Actually, it was the scene with him naked on the chair. *swoon* Those thighs!

I've blocked it out of my memory. Poor, poor man.

Rather effective ... much more so than that silly laser thing.

I must say, though ... Daniel Craig is Bond. He's got style but has quite a dangerous edge as well. I was so very impressed with both him and the movie itself.

Agreed. For once, I wouldn't mind being a Bond girl. ;)
