Cartoons

I outgrew them. The last cartoon I watched was Heavy Metal.

That was years ago...

Yeah, I mainly read non-fiction for my entertainment now.

I was smoking a lot of dope the last time I watched a cartoon...

;) ;)

I don’t see the old school cartoons anymore. Fliintstones and the Jetsons is where it’s at.
Do you have your bowl of cereal?

Hi Fluff! 😋

Current animation has some of the best writers in television and film, and the best actors as voice talent. It is rapidly shaping the future of both streaming and network content.

That episode of BoJack Hor -

...sorry; I forgot - this is the GB. I like the ones with the coyote & the road runner. :rose:

LOL … some of the old stuff is amazing … particularly Fleischer Studios. Not just Popeye. I go back and watch St. James Infirmary and Minnie the Moocher several times a year.

But yeah we’re in a golden age of animation right now. So much amazing art, so much good writing and voice acting. It’s crazy how people think that nothing has happened since Chuck Jones. (Who also is great, but that was 60 years ago!)

Current favs:

She-Ra — the Noel Stevenson reboot.

Little Witch Academia — Like Harry Potter but so much better.

Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! — Three high school girls start their own anime studio.

I can appreciate Bo-Jack but it wasn’t really my thing. I tend to gravitate to sweeter, more upbeat stuff. But then … Archer … omg Archer. I need to catch up with the last few seasons.

And so much classic anime! The whole Ghibli catalog! Akira and Ghost in the Shell and FLCL and Cowboy Bebop and Kill La Kill!

I finally watched Neon Genesis Evangelion for the first time this year. OMG … I would have fan-girled that so hard if I’d seen it in the 90s … .

We watch so much Bubble Guppies that I don’t love where my brain goes every time someone asks “What time is it?”

My youngest was obsessed with the PBS show Caillou.. I hate that kid!
Now she watches any shitty Anime on netflix. Sometimes, i miss that whiney brat Caillou.

Always good. I actually live in close vicinity to Chuck Jones' old stomping grounds. The remnants of Jay Ward's company are also down this way. (SoCal is the universe's home to cartoons.)

One of the best updates anyone has done, IMHO.

I'll check these out.

In that case, try Tuca & Bertie, if you haven't already. Still edgy, but optimistic.

Have you seen the new episodes they put out ~2 years ago? Also, if you like Jon Benjamin of Archer & Bob's Burgers, make sure you see Home Movies: https://youtu.be/GCpNWWLjMHo

And Big Mouth is crude as hell, but features some of the best comedic talent in the industry. Wish it had been around when I was 12.

i just binged fullmetal alchemist:brotherhood, so there's that. i liked it, but that was hardly a surprise. i liked the first anime as well when i bothered watching it. still, it makes a hell of a lot more sense when you start at the beginning and follow the story as it goes.

also, a fuck ton better than the last anime i tried to watch (attack on titan), but that's mainly because it was a good deal less fascist.

even though i just mentioned watching two anime shows i gotta say i've never understood the portion of the anime fandom that just watches any old thing just because it's anime. i like the stuff i've liked, but i learned a long time ago that anime is still subject to sturgeon's law.

also, if you're over the age of 12 and you still watch pokemon i really don't want to talk to you.

Sponge Bob! I love it, my wife hates it, so I watch it whenever I can. Fog Horn Leghorn, Yosemite Sam, Wile E. Coyote, Butch & Chester, Speedy Gonzolas, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Boris & Natasha, Popeye, Olive, Wimpy & Bluto, Yogi & Booboo, I love 'em all and still watch them when I find them.

Although not really a cartoon in the sense the OP meant, I LOVE me some KungFu Panda and Shrek and Cars and Moana and...and...and...

At 70+ I still love 'em. Of course I keep that quiet. I project the facade of a grumpy old fart. Don't tell anyone, yeah?

Comshaw

The co-showrunner and executive producer of Lucifer says Pokemon is his next project. Without question, they'll try to attract adults.

Lucifer was never my thing, but it got even worse when it went to Netflix...
