...and she's getting a new tv show.

Household Name is about a family who gets a chance to buy the house of their dreams but under extremely abnormal circumstances: They must live with the current owner, an eccentric, larger-than-life actress (Burnett) — until she dies.

Could be a short run. :)

I read a while back Amy Poehler's behind this thing, & will play part of the family, so that may save it (unlike "Welcome To Sweden").

Carol Burnett is and will always be one of the funniest women EVER.

I'd totally do a week-long, kickback, girlfriends over, pizza, popcorn and sodas binge on that!

Thanks for the heads up, Ann. I do love her old re-runs tho....funny shit. :D

Years ago, before Seacrest replaced Clark, a "blooper" from her show (with Tim Conway telling a story about a circus elephant) was voted the funniest of all-time.

I saw that! Hilarious! That's what I liked about Carol Burnett....she never hogged all the "funny".

She realized the importance of characters....and picked the best to work with.

Wasn't the elephant scene out of the spin-off "Mama's Family"?

I will admit, I laughed til I peed myself.

Thanks for reminding me of this one!

I still look that clip up from time to time and I still laugh till my sides ache. It's brilliant improvisation. Tim conway is brilliant.

Welcome.

Remember Carol introduced it on at least one TV show in the '90s (or later) saying they taped all bits w/o an audience, & he would do things as scripted. He'd then ask staff if they got it on-camera/tape, so he could go of-script in front of the crowd...

...Yet when the voting happened on Clark's show, they showed the one where Tim went off. (They taped both?!)

I also recall Tim & Harvey Korman played longtime comedy partners on an episode of "Diagnosis: Murder" starring Dick Van Dyke (whose son played his son, same as his brother Jerry playing his brother on the old show named for Dick).

Will be so bad when any/all of them are gone.

Oh yeah! now I remember! The elephant scene was a bit done ad lib!

Who the heck needs a script with *this* cast! This four-some were the best that television ever saw!

Yes...I hope they are here to make us laugh for a long, long time. I haven't kept up on celebrity news for a while...so if anyone has passed, I missed it.

I hope not.

I'll check out that "Diagnosis: Murder" episode! I've seen Dick Van Dyke on several of these old 80's mystery type shows like "Murder, She Wrote".

I was glad to see that Van Dyke was still working after all these years....he looks GREAT for his age!

*looks at Trumpire, smiles and yanks right earlobe* :D

DVD is on Twitter, & his page includes a link to the Vantastix, his acapella group.

I'm kinda curious what happened to his real-life son that did the show with him.

Also, just now, remember another blooper where his bro, Jerry, messed-up on the same phrase (something about "in the spirit in which it's intended") on an episode of "Coach" (which reminds me of Craig T. Nelson, & how much I miss Lynne Thigpen, who was his boss on some Saturday-night show a bunch of years ago when she died).

Oh wow! You are really up on all these old shows! I'm sure you could wiki Van Dyke to find out about his son.

btw, I did a quick edit on my above post that I think you may have missed. :rose:

Been a fun trip back with you tonight, Trumpire. Thanks! :)

I remember when everyone still used AOL, I spent time in the chat rooms for older TV & stuff, & people SWORE I was older than I was! Even I get surprised sometimes how my brain seems to travel... I bet in a few years, I'll spout out to relatives & friends the ends to a ton of stories I never finished before b/c my brain went off on tangents.

Oh, bet I could Wiki or IMDB that guy, but there's a Barry good shot it'd be a waste of my time. (Brother's Jerry, son is Barry, & he's Dick...? "One of these things is not...")

Yeah, fun.

But her estate will prosper.
