Nikolai kissed her lips before drifting off to sleep without bothering to dress.

Alexis fell asleep rather quickly as well.

Nikolai was rudely awoken the next morning by the phone ringing. he ignored it at first but picked it up the second time. He groaned and shook Alexis awake. "Three guesses who it is, and the first two don't count," he said, handing her the phone.

"The Director?" Alexis asked groggily. She answered the phone. "Hello, you've reached the Clark and Orlofsky residence. How may I beat you for waking me up at this infernal hour?"

"Ummm. . . I need you. Now."

Alexis sighed. "Where?"

"Beijing."

She groaned. "Not Beijing!"

"Yes, Beijing. It's important to meet your contact there."

"Will do." She hung up and lobbed the phone onto the nightstand and curled back underneath the covers.

"And just what are we doing this time?" he asked, curling back up to her.

"I have a contact there, and apparently it's important I meet with him," she grumbled, cuddling back into him.

"Did he say why or is he just being cryptic for the hell of it again?"

 

[celestialdragon]

"Take a guess," was her dry answer.

 

[bindingeagle]

Nikolai sighed. "I guess I'll start the coffee and equipment prep," he said, tossing on the token pair of boxers.

 

[celestialdragon]

"I'll do the sleep prep," Alexis sighed, nuzzling into the bed. "He never said WHEN I had to go. . ."

 

[bindingeagle]

Nikolai had tested all the sound and recording equipment before returning to bed. He decided the firepower would be Alexis' job that evening.

Alexis smiled and cuddled into him when he returned. She kissed his cheek and smiled.

Nikolai chuckled. "Smile now, you're on gun detail," he said, holding her.

"Mmm, goody," Alexis said, nuzzling him.

Finally Nikolai felt he couldn't procrastinate any more and made another pot of coffee and eggs and bacon.

Alexis sighed and rolled out of bed. Her body still felt shaky. "Honey? What voltage did you have me on last night?" She called.

"You weren't really high, just enough to get your attention. If you touched your heels, that would have changed." he said simply.

 

[celestialdragon]

She groaned. "Then why do the hell I feel shaky?" She grumbled.

 

[bindingeagle]

"We did a lot of stress positions," he said. "I'm sure you'll get me next time around."

 

[celestialdragon]

She chuckled and sat down. "I suppose," she teased.

 

[bindingeagle]

Nikolai fixed her a plate. "What kind of deals does your guy usually go in for?"

 

[celestialdragon]

"A little bit of everything," Alexis said, shrugging.

 

[bindingeagle]

"I guess we'll have to be careful then," he said, beginning to clear his plate and wash the cooking dishes. "Is there a particular strategy you would recommend?

 

[celestialdragon]

"Not really. We can appear as equals in front of him, thank heavens." She smiled as she began to eat.

 

[bindingeagle]

"Well that will be a nice change," he said, drying the pan. "Let the adventure begin!"
