In a ruling Monday, Cannon said the appointment of special counsel Jack Smith violated the Constitution.

Since this country’s inception there have been men who viewed this great experiment as a means to enrich themselves through status of power or wealth - the fact of equality, justice, or a continuance of democratic goals mattered little to them unless it served their stated purpose. We’ve seen them be able to mobilize and harm this nation with the Dred Scott decision, opposing worker rights, and Citizens United to name a few. The blows to democracy seem to be coming through now at a more frequent rate. The ones who profit and thrive under democratic rule yet despise it still have never left.
