Can you Sing?

we did accompany the mating of the horseshoe crabs very well.

Sang 'em right into a threesome - that's what happens when you get serenaded by porn writers.

I sing.

Most people hearing me wish I wouldn't.

I sing loudly. I sing badly.

Sometimes it encourages others to sing even louder to try to drown me out. They rarely succeed.

I enjoy singing. Those listening do not enjoy.

I fronted a band one time. By which I mean, one time only. The house band had begun "All Along the Watchtower," doing more or less Jimi's take on it, driving right along. They sang the first two verses about the Joker and the Thief, yannow, and began to wail on some improvisation. My daughter and some of her friends were there with me.

Verse and chorus succeeded verse and chorus, and the lead was speaking into his bassist's ear. The two shrugged at one another and made faces. Suddenly I knew what was going on. An intuition. I approached the lead.

"You've forgotten the last verse, haven't you?"

"Yeah."

"Gimme that thing!"

So I sang the final verse of "All Along the Watchtower." More fun than a barrel of monkeys! With my daughter in the audience!

Otherwise, I've sung "Stille Nacht" at Christmas, because I can pronounce German well and one of the women in the congregation was born in Germany. The organist played it too high, but I pulled it up there somehow and stayed clear.

The more you sing the better you will do it, if you can hear tones, which some people can't.

Not true... I (and my whole family) sing all the time, but we still don't do it well. Carrying a tune doesn't mean sounding good. My mom played the guitar when I was little and we'd sing all the folk songs and I just thought she was the best singer ever, and now I realize she's pretty bad. It was fun though :)

Togitc: I am a proud card carrying member of the Shower Singers of America and Southern Canada. I sing to the radio, my playlists, and even TV when they actually put music on there.

T: Point being can you sing?
R: Yes, but virtually everyone can sing. It's the quality that varies, greatly.

T: If yes, can you sing in front of people or crowds.
R: Yes, but most of 'em don't stay in front of me for very long.

T: What do you sing?
R: As a rule, songs

T: Now on those same lines there is always one song you can sing. I mean no matter what this song is one you can belt out like a pro, what is it?
R: There is NO song I belt out "like a pro." I've sung "That Lucky Old Sun" in competition, but gave it up when I heard the Ray Charles version.

i sing. i love to sing. However, it only happens when my voice can support it.

There was a time when one of the smaller theatres was looking for a replacement mezzo soprano and had asked me to go audition. The school had sponsored a field trip for choir and drama members to go see an opera there. i sat on the end, ignoring everybody else (they weren't paying much attention) and quietly singing along. The gentleman that had been sitting next to me asked the chaperone about me. Seems he was a friend of the theatre's owner and dropped a name.

Life was good. :D

Recently it's become quite a bit more difficult. i have a growth on my vocal cords that makes it painful to speak too much, or too loudly, which pretty much makes singing a thing of the past. i still do on occasion, though.

If I could choose ONE thing to do really well in this lifetime, it would be to sing...

alas... maybe in my next life! :)

I have a theory. In a previous life I was Enrico Caruso. In that life I used up all the singing talent for generations to come. I may not be the world's worst singer, but I am definitely in the bottom 10. Can I sing? Most people would say NO!

I sing in church...the church of baseball. I will soundly belt out a chorus of take me out to the ballgame.

Other then that, I can sing a little. But not terribly well and I need to remember that my range is pretty limited...

I can sing.

I was on stage...once for a charity benefit (my aunt used to write songs for a very famous R&B music label) and once for a beauty pageant.

My whole family sings ~ my mom and two of her sisters recorded a record once.

I always wanted to have singing lessons to improve my range, but never did it. Never had time, I guess and now, I feel it's too late.

I wish American Idol was around when I was 20...I would have had no problem trying for an audition.

I sing better the less I try.:)

I sing all the time to everything and hear music in my head. (A regular Alli McBeal)

I sing in front of people only incidentally. Like if I forget that I'm singing:) That happens. Sometimes I sing when I clean, it makes me feel like Cindarella.

I've never done Kareoke, I don't know if I'd ever get the guts. Maybe after everybody was drunk and the worst singers had gone before me:) Maybe. I'd love to sing Kareoke, I'm just too scared. When you get scared, your vocal cords tighten up.

I sing for my kids and around other kids. ONe little brat i know (not my kid) informed me that "you can't sing" which I felt was rather rude. I think that if I could afford private lessons I would probably be able to learn to sing. It's usually hit or miss, sometimes I can, sometimes I can't.

My mother wanted to be a singer when she was a girl, and my daughter wants to be a singer. I have at least 1 singer in my family, a second or third cousin. So I think it's there, somewhere in my genes. Just never developed.

I can sing...I love to sing all the time.. I sight read (music) very well and sing in a Large Oratorio. Singing with that choir is not my favorite kind of music but it keeps my sight reading abilities up to par.

I was telling Roderick this morning, that people were starting at me as I was walking to work with the MP3 player just blaring in my ears, and I was playing air guitar and singing to my hearts content.

singing???? love it!!!!

  :rose:

Bohemian Rhapsody... that's kind of freaky, I'm listening to that now. Of course since I bought that damn Queen Greatest hits Somebody to Love won't get out of my head either.

I have never done karoke but I was the lead singer of a band that never made it out of the garage. I was in plays as a wee-lad and was given solos all the time, the thing was I was incredible shy. I actually stopped a production three times during one of my solos because I forgot the words and wanted to get them right. I still hear about it today. I've been in choirs and jazz choirs and church choirs.

To be honest the greatest time I had singing was in my beat-up Dodge Omni, the previously mentioned car would blow a fuse everytime the radio was turned on, so I had to make my own music and. I would sing songs I knew, talk to myself, and if I had a friend in the car we would beat-box and feestyle, which is incredibly embarrasing to admit considering I'm a white guy from New Mexico.

Clovis? Wow, I'm moving to Rio Rancho in about a month.

So not true in my case, I haven't met an instrument I can't play ... cept my voice. Oh I can do a fair improv job of any Violent Femme's song... but yeah, I am the female version of their lead singer as far as that goes.

Not that people didn't try. I can not sing as a saprano, Well not since 3rd grade. My music teachers failed to notice this and tried to force it and so I can not decide where to sing and end up in a schizophrenic rush from octave to octave, but I know I tend to go flat. While solo I can maybe do OK, and my daughter doesn't run screaming from my rendiitons of wiggle's songs, I assume thats because she adores me, not due to talent.

As for everyone's one song. "On my own" ONLY in the shower. Oddly I can talk in tune. But hey, not everyone can sing :)

I love singing. I do it all the time, although usually when I'm alone, like in the car, or when I'm the last one at work. Most of the music I play I know the words to and sing along with.

I don't think I'm a bad singer, but my voice isn't what it was. I suck at high notes and don't manage the tonal range needed for most songs. Not that that stops me. :) I took singing lessons and joined a choir when I was a student, but that's quite a few years ago now. I also used to sing duets with a girlfriend.

For a brief period I was the lead singer in my band. I'm not all that great, but I have a decent range for heavy rock and I can growl in key. We got a lead vocalist when it came to the point that I couldn't play some of the intricate guitar parts I had and sing at the same time. Now I handle the majority of the harmonies in the band and I do the lead vocal at the heavy end of one song. While I have never particularly liked my voice, I have gotten compliments on it before.

Do I sing.... Yes

the better question is should i sing.... The resounding answer is NO.......

Oh and Cloudy and Vella.....

Horseshoe crabs are deaf.... so what were you doing to get them into threesomes...... Inquiring minds want to know...... :D

Do I sing? Yes!
Can I sing? Yes!

Used to be a choir boy in Oz.

Yeah, I can sing. I've sung in both church and school choirs all of my life. My hubby thinks he's Dio and sings like him (really!) and our son sings like an R&B star (much, MUCH better than me) but our gorgeous daughter can't sing at all.

With all of the musical people in my family and my hubby's, we still wonder: how did that happen?

Yes, I can (and do) sing. A lot. Seems like if I'm not singing, I'm humming.

Yes, I can sing in front of crowds. I have been asked, on occasion, to sing at weddings, meetings, gatherings, etc. Though I don't do it much anymore.

I sing about anything from kid's songs to popular stuff to *gasp* religuous hymns. I don't sing the religious stuff so much anymore unless I'm doing it without thinking. The habits of chilhood are deeply ingrained.

There are a few songs I've been complimented on for singing quite well: "Hands" by Jewel, "A Sorta Fairytale" by Tori Amos, and "My Immortal" by Evanessence. No one expects me to be able to sing; they alway seem surprised when I do. *shrug*

No, you don't. Really. ;)

I sing.

I have an undergrad degree in voice.

My voice quality works best with a sultry, soulful type of tune. I sang first soprano in college but now I enjoy the lower tones.

I've sung in church countless times but usually go for a serious art song, often in Italian or German. I'm often snagged to perform without prior notice and I'm often pulled into situations to "help out" the choir.

It's ok. I used to direct the choir at my church but gave it up two years ago (around the time I began to have serious faith issues - funny how that worked!)

I do miss singing in church, though. Love those older hymns. Church just isn't church to me without singing Up From the Grave He Arose on Easter, or Angels We Have Heard on High at the holidays, or even How Great Thou Art. Just because.

Good stuff.
