What is the difference between Johnnie Walker Red and Black? I really don't want to spend the money buying both bottles just to find out they taste the same.

Also, how much does Captain Morgan Rum go for in your area? I'm just curious about this. I don't really have any way to compare. It goes for about DM 10 here. This is roughly $5. I think that's pretty cheap. Is it?

Also, which is better. Jack Daniels or Jim Beam?

Can't help you other than to say I prefer Jim to Jack and do not believe I have ever partook of Johnny.

I suspect age on the scotch. Older is better as I understand it. Don't know the answer on the rum.

yep, age on the scotch

and wow on the Capt Morgan - assuming it's a liter. I don't recall precisely the last time I bought a bottle, but I am sure it was over $10.

Jim is better than Jack, any day.

The older, the better, with whiskey anyway *S*

Captain Morgan here goes for almost $20 for a mickey. But I'm in Canada, where pretty much everything is expensive.

This I know.....

Red v Black is about aging. The Red is younger and less smokey; very light. The Black is older, bolder and smokey on flavor. The Red is about $ 10.00 cheaper. I like Johnnie Black.

There are 2 types of Jack Daniels; the Black and the Green. The Green is younger than than Black. The Black is about $7.00 more than the Green. The Green and Jim Beam are on par. I like Black Jack.

It's really about acquired taste. Also, unless your recipient is gonna appreciate the difference, don't spend the extra money. Except if you want it to be a very special gift.

I don't like bourbon but the general consensus of opinion seems to favour Jack Daniels.
