On a roll , and don't want to stop for research, I could but ROLLING wildly with this story. Two questions:

1) A very wealthy British name associated with royalty but removed from Windsor.

2) The most prestigeous British boarding school

Quick responses are greeted with kiss and tongue. Slow responses with :p

THANKS!

2. Harrow or Eton. Marlborough College.

Edit to add seperately, since England gave us our Constitution back, we get very little Brit tabloid, but tons of Yank material

Me = clueless

Duke of Westminster

The family name is Grosvenor, like Grosvenor Square which has the US Embassy. He owns the land the Embassy is built on!

Finished it! Half of Chapter three in one day! WHOOP! Waiting for a french word now. :) But thanks, thanks, thanks, for your expediency, even if Parker-Bowles WAS worked in.

;)

Edit to add: OK, I will research Eton now, but what are the unkown research facts? Anyone even attend? :)

PM if must, I have no idea how prestigous the school is :) and it is mixed right? Girls go there?

Don't be silly! How do you think English men end up like they do. Girls are 'foreign objects' unless they are maids or stable girls, in which case anything goes as long as it smells of beeswax or horses.

I think there are moves to introduce girls at Eton - but you must bear in mind that Eton is the training camp for the Household Cavalry, the Foreign Office and Life Peers, all of whom spend a great deal of time on their arses. (or ass's)

Roedean - All girls Roedean

Or Cheltenham Ladies College. Cheltenham
Ten of their staff recently went to Paris to learn from the Moulin Rouge how to dance the Can-Can and then performed it on the school's stage to the school's pupils, parents and friends. It was shown as a TV programme a couple of weeks ago.

Or Benenden School, Kent where Princess Diana went.

Of course Og's suggestions are eminently sensible and each of the schools he has listed are excellent - in their own way. But to prepare a gal for the riquors of life, dealing with a chap fresh out of the Household Cavalry there is only one school - Queen Ethelburgers near Thisk in Yorkshire. The school boasts it's very own Equestrian Centre and gals can bring their own horses for free. What better way to prepare for life in the upper eschalons of English society than to ride out at dawn each morning, then back for a brisk shower, a rub down with horse linament and Latin.

I stumbled across this delightful 'educational foundation - nothing a vulgar as a school or college' trying to search whether it was Roedean or Roehampton, I personally think a gal should always go for something with a 'hampton' in it. ;)

Roedean and Cheltenham Ladies both mention horse riding as part of their sporting activities. Roedean has its own polo team.

PS: I have corrected the url links above. They should work from my post but not from neon's quote.

Southampton Community College?

Nit-picking I know, but Queen Eth's (unless it's moved) is closer to York & Harrogate than to Thirsk, since it's at Thorpe Underwood, just off the York-Harrogate road (A59) ;)

Charley: The ending -hampton for a town is reasonably common in England, much like -chester is. Southampton is a port on the South coast of England and, although not a terrible place, is not noted as a terribly posh place.

A community college is a higher education school for people who do not do very academic studies (or do not do them to a high level) and tends to focus on teaching useful skills to people who aren't going to university.

So, no probably not the best. :D
