Calling all Firefly/Serenity fans

Love it, love it, love it. I'm also about to start writing on a serenity/firefly themed SRP.

Mal: "It's a real burn, being right so often."

Wash: (Off an alarm sounding from the console) "Closing in."
Zoe: "Planet's coming up a mite fast."
Wash: "That's just cause I'm going down too quick. Likely crash and kill us all."
Mal: "Well, that happens, let me know."

Inara: (pissed) "What did I say to you about barging into my shuttle?"
Mal: "That it was manly and impulsive?"
Inara: "Yes, precisely. Only the exact phrase I used was 'don't'."

Zoe: "You sanguine about the kind of reception we're apt to receive on an Alliance ship, Cap'n?"
Mal: "Absolutely." (beat) "What's 'sanguine' mean?"
Zoe: " 'Sanguine'. Hopeful. Plus -- point of interest -- it also means 'bloody'."
Mal: "Well, that pretty much covers all the options, don't it?"

Oh I could quote all day. Priceless. Completely priceless. :D

Bandit #1: "And I think maybe you're gonna give me a little one-on-one time with the missus."
(Husband) Jayne: "Oh, I think you might wanna reconsider that last part. See, I married me a powerful ugly creature."
(Wife) Mal: "How can you say that? How can you shame me in front of new people?"
(Husband) Jayne: "If I could make you purtier, I would."
(Wife) Mal: "You are not the man I met a year ago." (they suddenly draw their guns on the bandits, Mal slowly pulling his bonnet off)
Mal: "Now think real hard. You been bird-dogging this township a while now. They wouldn't mind a corpse of you. Now you can luxuriate in a nice jail cell, but if your hand touches metal, I swear by my pretty floral bonnet: I will end you."

Inara: "So, explain to me again why Zoe wasn't in the dress?"
Mal: "Tactics, woman! Needed her in the back. 'Sides, them soft cotton dresses feel kind of nice. There's a whole airflow."
Inara: "And you would know that because...?"
Mal: "You can't open the book of my life and jump in the middle. Like woman, I'm a mystery."
Inara: "Best keep it that way. I withdraw the question.

I think it was one of the last scene in "The Train Job" that got me hooked:

Mal: Now, this is all the money Niska gave us in advance. You bring it back to him. Tell him the job didn't work out. We're not thieves. But we are thieves. Point is, we're not takin' what's his. Now we'll stay out of his way as best we can from here on in. You explain that's best for everyone, okay?
Crow: Keep the money. Use it to buy a funeral. It doesn't matter where you go or how far you fly. I will hunt you down, and the last thing you see will be my blade.
Mal: Darn.
[Kicks Crow through running engines. Next bad guy is brought forward]
Mal: Now, this is all the money Niska gave us in advance...
One of Niska's Soldiers: Oh, I get it! I'm good. Best thing for everyone. I'm right there with ya.

I don't mind if you keep the quotes coming Velvet, I love 'em!

And now I know what steampunk is, whew!

Argh, now this thread makes me want to curl up on the couch and watch my Firefly episodes but they're at home and I'm not! Ah well, at least I brought my movies with me so I can watch Serenity.

And I'll agree with others that JW is a hollywood god.

i wish Lucas had hired Whedon to write episodes 1-3

would have been soooooooo much better!!!

Firefly is epic!

(& coming out on blu-ray, the entire series!!!!!)

Loved the series, thought the movie was okay but could have been much better. Absolutely some of the best dialogue ever written for TV. I read somewhere that they actually tried to get the correct Chinese translations for the cursing they did. I love that!
In the Serenity RPG book, there's an appendix of Chinese swearing. You can see it here.

From "Our Mrs. Reynolds":

Saffron:
[Saffron is sitting on Mal's bed naked, covered by a blanket] I've made myself ready for you.
Mal: [Mal trying not to look] Let's ride right past the part where you explain exactly what that means.

Saffron: Are you gonna kill me?
Mal: What? What kind of crappy planet is that? Kill you.
Saffron: In the maiden's home, I heard talk of men who weren't pleased with their brides...
Mal: Well, I ain't them. And don't you ever stand for that sort of thing. Someone ever tries to kill you, you try to kill 'em right back.

Wash: [Wash being seduced by Saffron] I wish I was somebody else right now, somebody not... married, not madly in love with a beautiful woman who can kill me with her pinky.

Mal:
[about Saffron] You would've kissed her too.
Zoë: Wash didn't.
Mal: But she was naked and all... articulate!

Mal: I would appreciate it if one person on this boat would not assume that I'm an evil lecherous hump.
Zoë: Nobody's saying that, sir.
Wash: Yeah, we're pretty much just giving each other significant glances and laughing incessantly.

Isn't that special? ;)

(When the crew goes to save mal and wash.. .forget which episode, just love the quote from sheppard book)

Sheppard?! I may be mistaken, but doesn't the bible have some very specific things to say about killing?

Sheppard: It does indeed... But it happens to be rather vauge about kneecaps

I love that episode when Mal starts mumbling "ohhh I'm going to that special level of hell"

I also love one of the later ones when Shepherd is grooming and he sticks his head out of the doorway and scares River.

i love firefly! i keep trying to get Master to watch it with me but we never seem to have time.

Well, she finally succeeded. I'm up for a visit and she decided to get all under the weather, so we spent the day lounging together and watching the whole bloody season. My eyes want to melt (I never watch TV, so my eyes don't deal well with this much video), but it was enormously entertaining.

A number of my friends tried to get me to watch it when it was out, but I hadn't heard of it ti fairly near the end of the season. From a stint of Buffy, I knew that watching a Whedon show from the middle was just a way to generate too many questions, so I figured I'd look into it when the second season started. Not one of my better prognostications *shrug*

I went to see the movie when it came out, and dug it. I'm glad that I watched the series, and can honestly say that I will probably need to own said series on DVD, as well as the Serenity RPG. Well, if it is any good. Shyguy, any words of wisdom on that front

I've been resisting the urge to look the show up on youtube and now that you gave me the links (THANK YOU!!!! by the way) ... I knew I was right! LOL

I think I know what I want for Xmas this year ... :D

The season companions are a wealth of information too, for anyone who is interested in the production side and for a handy episode guide. :)

Just another few of my fave quotes: (I may have to go dig out my dvds today, again.)

Kaylee (talking about dresses): Say. Look at the fluffy one.

Zoe: Too much foofaraw. If I'm gonna wear a dress, I want something with slink.

Wash: you want a slinky dress? I can buy you a slinky dress. Captain, can I have money for a slinky dress?

Jayne: I'll chip in.

zoe (casually to jayne): i can hurt you.

My friends and I really enjoyed the RPG, and we've been talking about playing it again at some point.
