yeah my parents were none too pleased about that one - the teacher got away with it unfortunately and I couldn't shift to another class since she was the head of the 1st grade dept.....I heard years later she did the same thing with another kid when she was transferred to another school...atleast I wasn't the only one...

It's sad that some teachers are like that. They don't realize how they can ruin a kid with stuff like that.

atleast now a days they have to answer for their actions and can't just tell a parent 'who are you going to believe, me or a 6yr old' when they talk to the parents....

True, I had no problems in that area. I didn't put up with any crap from my kids teachers.

Nowadays they are suspended without pay while alligations are investigated or just plain terminated....

alot has changed in 25 yrs also....these days they don't give Ritalin for ADHD or ADD like they did back then...then again they know what ADD/ADHD is compared to then also

And then the school really does nothing to prevent further problems in the future. God, it's not easy being a school teacher, I can tell you. I'm frustrated with the school that hides it's head in the sand and takes action when something really serious happens, I'm frustrated with parents who come in and say "it can't possibly be my child's fault" and I'm frustrated with teachers who don't try to find alternatives to deal with things. There are good ones and bad ones on every side. It isn't easy.

that's cause those parents suck at being a parent....they believe that their child acts the same way they do when they are around them and could never be like that away from their presence....ha! I don't even have kids and know that kids act that way only to appease their parents and then once they're gone...it's open season.....now I see why my dad raised me the strict way he did, atleast he did right with me....compared to my greedy brothers...I think I must have been adopted or something LOL

My kids were just the opposite. The teachers and other parents loved them. They drove me absolutely crazy! In fact they still do!

I understand the desire to defend your child but some parents do hide their head in the sand instead of trying to find out what really happened when their kid gets in trouble.

I think too many parents have just had kids to have them...that's not to say that they don't love their children, but most of just should never have them period! everyone believes that there are certain ways to raise a child and I respect a parents desire to raise them the way they did, but geez if I did some of the things kids today do when I was growing up, I probably wouldn't be alive today due to the a$$ beating I would have gotten...they're just getting way with way too much

You're right alot has changed..... I know from my mother who taught and was a principal for 39 years before she retired

In some cases, you are absolutely right about parents being afraid of their kids. In several different ways.

Well let me tell you something. It's even harder when your kids turn around when they are young and tell you that they are going to call the police just because they don't like what you said to them or if you are trying to punish them with a timeout or something. The cops will still have to do something even if they realize the kid is lying. It seems that the kids are being allowed to rule the parents and all because there are parents out there that beat the crap out of their kids.
