I can imagine. Even with clouds and rain, the sound of the ocean would be calming to me. Relaxing.

I really would want the warm weather though. I want to move somewhere that is warm year round. I've put up with the cold months all my life. It's not for me!

I think I'm starting to go through a mid-life crisis. I actually had the thought the other week of selling everything and moving out west, living on the beach. My thought was, I don't care if it's a simple, small apartment... I just don't want to be in KS any more, and I know I would LOVE living on or at least near the beach.

Turkey: straddle two continents, Istanbul is a captivating city, fabulous food and wine, amazing archeological sites, great museums, bizarre lunar landscape of Cappadocia [climb around the rock formations or see it from a balloon at sunrise]

There's Black Sea, Aegean, and Mediterranean beaches. There's even the sea you never heard of unless you're into Greek mythology, the Sea of Marmara, which partially inspired my user name.

Given the shift underway to more fundamentalist Islam, go sooner rather than later! Careful around that border with Syria...

And if Turkey has become too mainstream a destination, go for Sao Miguel in the Azores Islands about two thirds of the way across the Atlantic. But I've gone on long enough. Ask if you want more.
