Liberal Democrats have literally been 'enabled' by four myopic special interest groups with lots of money.

1. The Hollywood crowd, with more money and media access than good sense.

2. The middle-aged former flower children and Woodstock pilgrims, who are now ruling fiefdoms in Sacramento.

3. The unbridled immigration advocates, who have successfully skewed the state's demographics on the road to Aztlan.

4. The homosexual activists, who defy reason with noise and money.

As Davis (and his successors) attempt to staunch the hemorrhage of their own making, it is both sadly just that the liberal enablers will reap what they have sown and tragic that tens of millions of Californians will suffer the consequences of abuse of power.

Here's the deal. California needs to use a meat cleaver, not a scalpel, on the budget. It won't.

· The inevitable result will be a growing need for more and more money from taxpayers.

· Middle-class Californians and small businesses that had resisted the obvious imperative WILL begin a migration to more friendly and reasonable states (Nevada, Oregon, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, even Washington).

· California will suffer a reduction in the tax base when it most needs it.

· California will become a marginalized state with two classes of citizens … the very rich and the very poor.

· California will continue to require massive amounts of money, and guess what? They won't be able to extract it from the very poor, so the Mandarin class will be expected to pick up the slack.

· NOTE: This Mandarin class is composed of the very same enablers who allowed California to tax and spend the state into fiscal insolvency.

· HOWEVER, the very rich (in L.A., the Bay Area and San Diego) won't subsidize the product of their own actions. Rather, they too will move their prime residence (tax address) to Lake Tahoe, Oregon or Mexico. They will continue to 'live, work and play' in California … they just won't support the tax base.

Despite his abysmal job performance, Gov. Davis has the stones to include in his suggestions for the Legislature to restore the governor's power to make budget changes midyear without lawmakers' approval.

END OF EXERPT

What do you wager that, not unlike New York City, they are going to demand that Congress have the rest of the nation pony up to help them with new taxes to save California and thus save the U.S. Economy....

So basically the population of California is being tyranically ruined by the population of California?

If they'd just toss out Gray Davis and install Al Davis as Perpetual King for Forever, everything would be hunky.

Pipe down, ya fuckin' wankjob.

The Nation of California is a microcosm of the U.S. Large metropolitan areas that are largely liberal that have most of the political power and wealth, with a large rural/agricultural base that is primarily conservative.

The Democrats have ruled both houses of the legislature and the the executive for many years now, and the budget is seriously out of control.

A perfect model for the old democratic model of tax & spend.

Immigration problems and the energy crisis are only so much of an excuse for the 35 billion in red ink.

Isn't it 34 billion in tax increases?

We are only a couple of billion in the hole up here, and the solution will probably be like the socialist answers in Calif. When our Governor was reelected, we had a 7 million dollar surplus, to which the socialists spent on their pet projects. When the slump came, instead of cutting their bloated, centralized, overhead slag, they closed parks, disabled person transit systems, libraries, police, and fire services. Maybe it's because the Governor of CCCP of Washington can still afford to send his wife to PRC to get tips on birth control! He has put on hold three citizen referendums passed by majority votes to cut needless spending, and give teachers a pay hike. They have criminally diverted monies collected for our roads, to more pet special interest projects, in violation of the state constitution. All they talk of is taxing those that do, for those that don't. The main problem is animals, the sheep keep voting for the weasels!!! This wolf is gonna move, it'll get crowded up here when Calif. goes under. Funny how the three left coast states are all socialist, and the worst in the nation.........:D

Our state is wrestling with the same problems.

But, it's like one legislator confided with me, they had the Big Suburban High Schools list the budget cuts they could make. At the top of the list was firing teachers and couselors. A bunch of the usual, put off upgrades, etc. comprised the middle, and the last thing they could do without was HIRING new assistant football coaches and BUYING ALL NEW EQUIPMENT and we're just not talking pads here...

Meanwhile, our local High School serves three counties and we have chili feeds just to maintain our current equipment and the kids HAVE to provide their own pads.

And the city-folk are screaming bloody murder that their children are not going to get educated if ONE PENNY is cut from education's projected budget increases...

SINthysist, I see that inyour profile you identify yourself as a troll. I would tend to agree. If you showed any evidence of a double-digit IQ I would be inclined to argue with you. But since you don't, and your rant seems to be nothing but re-gurgitated, ignorant crap, I will merely say why don't you slink back to yourt cave before you are resoundingly spanked by your betters.

I have yet to claim to be anything but a dullard.

You're gonna LOVE UncleBill...

And, hey, MensaMan

LOL. Maybe your new troll is a member of one of the California groups you reference in your first post. I was an Orange County guy (One of the few conservative counties in California) and we always felt that we were getting overrun by the nuts in NoCal. That was a factor in my moving out of there.

Someone asked me recently if I was from Orange County.

I knew it was supposed to be a bad thing.

NOW I know why.

Danke!

:D

Funny how the libs

were all screaming GREED when those stock options raised $17 BILLION in revenues for Calif.....

Now when it has gone POOF......they wish they could get it back.....

Time to stop make ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION a RIGHT and turn it into a CRIME....DEPORTATION!

Time to STOP giving EVERYTHING to EVERY group the WHINES!

Immigration problems and the energy crisis are only so much of an excuse for the 35 billion in red ink.
The Democrats have controlled entirely the state legislature for about 40 years. These assholes produce approximately 1,000 new laws every year intent on dictating from Sacramento everything a person might ever think about doing.

It's so utterly ridiculous that you can be cited and fined if your kid doesn't wear a safety helmet while riding a bike or skateboarding or roller skating.

The fiscal problems are the result of a governor, recently reelected, who is incompetent in any matter economic, who for his first four years, shook down everybody who wanted some political favor for campaign contributions and who mismanaged totally the electrical energy crisis the state faced as the result of the stupid, irresponsible policies enacted by the Democrats for over 30 years.

They refused to build new generating facilites, they set air pollution standards that are so unreasonable that they preclude some plants operating more than about 20 days per year.

The idiots have even gotten so ridiculous that the aroma of baking bread is air pollution and the bakeries had to install thousands of dollars worth of scrubbers to prevent this horrible pollution from being released into the atmospehere.

This is the mentality of the idiots SYNthysist mentioned.

Then came the fabulous idea of electrical energy deregulation. The deregulation consisted of unregulating the wholesale market price but keeping the retail market prices fixed. Why? So consumers would be isolated from the price spike which was the inevitable result when the producers could sell their energy on an open market and get a higher price for it. And with limited generating capacity (about a 10% safety margin), sure enough, the price spike came.

With the labyrinth of regulations on the suppliers, they could not plan long range and thus were trapped into buying energy on the spot market. Finally, things got so bad Grayout Dufus, decided that long term contracts were the way to go.

And being the incompetent SOB he is, he paniced and purchased a number of said contracts at the high point in the market spike saddling the California consumers with a $20 BILLION debt in bonds for the next generation.

And, as is typical of these incompetent assholes, he tried to blame everybody in the country for his stupidity from Enron, to Bush to anyone else he could think of. He tried suing energy sellers to recover costs which were the direct result of his stupidity and panic at the fear of not being reelected.

And again, the classic Democrat, he went after the commercial energy producers with his defamatory rhetoric and lawsuits. But one of the most flagrant of the gougers, LA Water and Power, who bought electricity from Boulder Dam for $0.009/kWh (that's less and a penny per kWh) and sold it into the state grid for $0.17 kWh (17 cents per kWh), a markup of 1,888%. But since it is a government facility, Dufus kept them out of the picture.

Just more of the collectivist hypocrisy and double standard.

Dufus, aka Davis, came to office with a $12 BILLION surplus in the state treasury. In four years, this incompetent asshole has the state facing a $35 BILLION deficit, $5 BILLION of which is NEW SPENDING.

The facts are as follows - during the Dufus administration California saw a:
  1. 21% increase in state population
  2. 28% increase in state revenues collected
  3. 36% increase in state spending
[/list=1]This is the classic Democrat style of government and it is destroying the economy of the state by driving away businessmen.
