and this is why the gutless republican senators refused to stand up to the bully. if they'd have had the courage to face him en masse, they could have seen the tyrant removed and one of their other, regular politicians (pence) take his place until november at least. if enough had done what they should have done, honoured their oaths, stood up for the people instead of selling them out to trump's control, the republican voters a bit hesitant about the facts might have come to the belated conclusion that this impeached president was anathema to their country's standards, beliefs, and future.

but, yanno, they didn't--except romney who grew a backbone

I wonder who thought that this wasn't going to happen? The only reason it didn't happen earlier was the democrats would have used it as justification for "obstruction of justice" charges. Now that the trial is over they can't do shit but whine.

I expect quite a few more departures from the White House staff, just folks we've not heard of before. Let's just hope all the snakes have been identified.
