You would think these big corporate magnates, men of power and accomplishment, would have better emotional control.

Apparently it's easier to apologize after the fact than display the emotional control necessary to be a decent human being.

I can only hope his grandchildren were not in the vicinity when he chose to use such language.

That's his side of the story. Granted he also said 9pm. But that's just one little technical detail. Of course, in the midst of a swearfest that would make his grandmother as well as grandchildren blush. "Mom, what's a 'fucking dyke'"?

My guess is it was a party and there were several drunken and loud goings on. Yes kids were probably there, but not the only ones and not the only source of the noise. My bet is he is trying to cast the situation in the least damaging light to him. I am betting if one gets the whole story that this party had been going on all day and was continuing on into the night. With a lot of noisy drunken revelry.

Long noisy parties get old by the time darkness falls.
