Just as his father did in 1991, Bush II has made war and let the enemy off the hook. By having our troops sit in an airport instead of securing Tora Bora, Bush has allowed the Northern Alliance and rebel units to take bribes to let hundreds of troops and all of al Qaeda's leaders escape. Thousands are likely to die from terrorist attacks as a result. Where, when and how are the only questions.

And now he will invade Iraq to solve that 1991 problem. I have supported this war 100% until last night, when I realized that his revolting incompetence has solved nothing. We are really in a mess now. Al Qaeda's money lines are still intact, the FAA has taken absolutely NO steps to secure our air travel, and we shall see further events that will blow trillion-dollar holes in our economy. I am NOT rejoicing over this.

I do not understand how the Pentagon allowed those men to escape. I don't believe anyone on this board would have allowed them to escape. We all would have sent serious combat units to Tora Bora to finish the enemy off. I am stunned, depressed, and frightened.

Good luck, folks.

Weren't you leaving? I thought you were leaving. Can you not do the leaving thing without coming back?

You committed the heinous sin. Ooh, yes, even worse than yoyotwat. You never even apologized for that bit of nearly unpardonable evil that you did here.

Next time you do the leaving thing, could you keep it that way?

Bush doesn't want to catch bin Laden. He doesn't want a high profile show trial. To do so would only give Bin Laden the TV airtime to spout his views. They're quite happy to bury him, either physically by dropping a mountain on his head, or metaphorically by wiping out any country that allowed him to run his publicity machine from. Bin laden as a leper in permanent exile in Pakistan, is far preferable to the US than video footage of US soldiers killed in an attempt to catch him.

Killer =

I never knew there was any rule about posting a not terribly personal message from someone who had helped provoke a situation and then turned around and comforted the assailant. As for her name, Miles had long previously revealed mine on the board: "Harry."

Guess I would have complained had I known it wasn't kosher. I know that no one else seemed to think it unusual or unseemly.

Anyway, guess it's ok with you that they're only just now thinking of sending the Marines to Tora Bora. I'll bet if you were in command of US forces, we'd have covered the damned place while we had them "surrounded." Forgive me if I'm wrong.

I know PC would have kicked their asses.

That's a pretty fancy chance to take. And all of his lieutenants? They're stooping ot the point of saying that they "may have captured one of his top 30 lieutenants." Who's that? the guy who gets the tea when no one under 12 is around?

Plus I wish to take credit for a post weeks ago in which I sadi the anthrax perpetrator was an American Republican military research person. They're now investigating a whacko at Battelle Institute (not a terribly long drive from Trenton). Way to go, patriots!

Try blaming the person truly responsible for the misery in your life.
Look in the mirror. Why are you so obsessed with me? Do everyone a favor and go post on Nickleodeon's BB. This one is for grownups.

The Taliban escaped

due to the unique nature of Afghan cuture and politics, i.e., the switched sides, offered bribes and took advantage of several customs such as begging for mercy and hospitality.

There are simply not enough Americans there to guard all the borders, nor are our Pakistani allies all that reliable for many of the same reasons.

Besides, the next target is Somalia. Are you reading a wide variety of sources?

And all they had to do was look for a tall man on a horse...

He fooled everyone by escaping on a Donkey. Nobody was looking for a tall man on a donkey. :p

Aha! Fiendish, really, really fiendish!

:D

Two amusing schools of thought

1). He escaped by shaving his beard.

2). We let him escape on purpose to have better justification in going after whichever country takes him in next.

It's all out there if you look hard enough...

NOW They're going to send the Marines in -

Now that they've all escaped. Why didn't they send the Marines last week? Suddenly it's a good idea? The press really is covering up for one of the biggest botches in US military history.

And how about that Republican military researcher/anthrax terrorist? The one whose existence exposes that we've been doing illegal research (Nixon banned anthrax testing in 1969 after 6,000 sheep died in Utah).

What a team. On to Baghdad! Again....
