No no no, it's true. They share the same basic formula. Michael/Magnum, and ex spy/marine, talks to himself a lot giving tips about life and his profession or anything else that crosses his mind. He takes on cases to help people more than he does to get paid. He enlists the help of his old friends from his spy days/the war Sam and Fee/Rick and T.C., who also supply comic relief (they each share qualities of each character), while being harassed by his mother/Higgins for not being what she/he thinks Michael/Magnum could be.

It's kind of funny, now that I found that connection. This doesn't detract anything from the show for me either, as I loved Magnum P.I. in the first place.

I never paid that close attention to the series (it was fun to watch, but I never actually cared about the characters). I love Burn Notice and think it's brilliantly written. The key will be keeping the suspense about how his cover was blown going strong. They lost it in Monk and The Dead Zone and it's reduced how good those shows are (although I still love Monk). Whenever you have a single premise behind a show, it limits the lifespan.

No, not at all - Michael can fight whereas Magnum was always getting his ass kicked.

I lost my interest in Monk in season 2 when they went overboard with his neurotic behaviors.

And I think that Burn Notice would still be fun if they dropped the who and why of his burn, and just left him in Miami being hunted by hit men and government agents alike for various reasons, while helping out those in need for the hell of it (and occasionally the money). The arcing storyline, while interesting and suspenseful, isn't as fun for me as the week to week antics are.

Speaking of updated, have you seen Bionic Woman? I just caught the replay on SciFi and it was very . . . interesting. The ratings were great, it stomped the competition on network TV, but it had a grittiness to it (and that damned shaky camera crap) that I can't imagine working on a grand scale for too long. I like the actors involved, but I can't even decide if I like it yet or not (and I'm a total SciFi geek).

The first I heard of it was yesterday, and I didn't know that it was something that was airing yesterday, it sounded more like an upcoming title that was being put together still. Then tonight I heard that it had aired already and was surprised that I hadn't heard something sooner.

I will probably never see it. It is on opposite Criminal Minds. And I can never find anything on Sci Fi anymore, so there goes that idea. And I'm too lazy to watch shows on the internet.

I thought the same thing, but I think that is because I was confusing the beginning hype of Wonder Woman, rather than the Bionic Woman show...now I feel dumb

Maybe a little. Either way, I didn't hear about either of them until late last week.

Slight threadjack here..I saw two shows recently that were good. Reaper wasn't bad, but I liked the main character who was also in Grounded for Life (neighbor kid). I just caught the pilot of Chuck tonight and thought it was fairly entertaining. This is one of those shows that you have to keep yourself from thinking about the basic plot point, but other than that it is funny. I'd recommend at least the pilot of Reaper, not sure about the rest as they will no longer be directed by Kevin Smith. Chuck, I'll be watching next week. :)
