Reports of the Build Back Better Framework's death have been greatly exaggerated.

(Sorry BabyBooBoo and do nothing Deplorables) :rose:

Negotiations continue, with Senator Manchin continuing to push for changes to the House version that was passed.

There was always going to be changes to the legislation once it reached the Senate, and only political novices believed otherwise.

Contrary to what some may think (or say), this massive piece of legislation is progressing at a very rapid pace.

Senate Majority leader Chuck Schumer has a vote scheduled for the end of January, at which point the key impasses between Senator Manchin and the White House should be resolved.

Ultimately I believe Americans will get a Build Back Better Bill that is actually better than the House version, and that is a more focused response to the current challenges facing the nation

I figured they'd eventually get something like that passed. They can't avoid aspects of what it could do for the country.

It is what was to be expected from the party that elected President Biden.

Despite the Deplorables claiming Democrats are radicals, the recent nominees chosen to represent each party shows who the real radicals are.

Last week, Schumer was threatening to bring BBB to the floor in January. The brilliant idea was to force Manchin and Sinema to go on the record. Shame them. Now they are back at the negotiating table? Lol. Ok. New year, same situation.

"Threatening"?

They have both been on record since this Congress opened.
and the OP states Sen Schumer's intention to bring it to the floor by the end of january

talks have never stopped

.
BabyBooBoo just can't seem to wrap his last semi- functional braincell around the fact that the Build Back Better Framework is progressing through congress the way any historic piece of legislation would.

And yes, the threat of, or actual, public political shaming via floor votes is part of the process in moving the bill forward.

Also, pressure from constituents, the President, and other members of their party CAN motivate members of congress to work towards a compromise.

Build Back Better is alive and well - on its way to passage.

manchin will get some of his own way, but the time-frame is allowing his own constituents (the miners' union, too) to add their voices, their pressure as to his not representing what they need to happen... which has to have some influence on his decision-making. If most the people he represents are telling him they need these things, but he goes along with keeping big money sweet, they, yes, he WILL have to publicly voice his dissent and THEN have explain it to the voters.

Yes; and the vote on that particular piece of legislation as currently written may not be what is voted on, IF any vote actually happens.

The process continues as the talks continue.

This is nothing new.

Just as the final physical infrastructure bill wasn't what was originally hoped for, the Build Back Better human infrastructure bill will obviously not be what was originally hoped for.

Shooting for the stars and settling for the moon is also nothing new when historic legislation is involved.

I actually don't have a problem with some of Senator Manchin's concerns; but a lot of what he's saying and doing reeks of pandering to his wealthy donors, and serving his own interests.

I agree that the vote on the contents of the bill will put Manchin, Sinema, and others in a position where they will be forced to be specific about their objections to each element in the bill IF they don't vote in favor of it.

So far they've had the luxury of playing coy about certain aspects of the bill.

Times almost up for that ^ game.

Most def....seems like we are back on track to do things in this country that help average citizens.

I am one of Manchin's constituents. I've not heard a single person in WV say they were in favor of the BBB. Not a one. Sure, we have two cities, and the liberals in the cities want more hand-outs, but most of West Virginia is rural and conservative and realize the welfare state the United States has become is unstainable.

As a Democrat, Manchin was on thin ice and lucky he wasn't up for reelection this round prior to showing some spine. If he holds fast and runs again (which I doubt) his standing up the the Democrats will get him reelected.

He's Dead Man Walking and he knows it.

Time to join the Big Blue retirement wave.

We rotate our politicians. Business, governor, senator.... It's his turn to go back to business for a few years. Our current governor, Jim Justice will take Manchin's place in the Senate.

Welp, this thread didn’t age well. The Hill has confirmed that the vote the OP claimed was “scheduled for the end of January” in fact is NOT going to happen in January. And those negotiations that Laz said are occurring at “a rapid pace” are in fact not occurring so rapidly. In fact they are on the back burner. 😂

https://thehill.com/homenews/senate...use-on-bidens-climate-social-spending-package

“Senate Democrats are putting President Biden’s climate and social spending plan on the back burner as they plan to debate voting rights legislation this month and hold a vote on changing the Senate's filibuster rule.”

“Schumer made no mention of Build Back Better or when it might come to the floor, despite promising at the end of last year to schedule a vote on it before Christmas.”

“Democratic aides warn that means Build Back Better probably won’t be ready to come to the floor until March or later. And whatever version of the bill comes up for a vote will be markedly different from the $1.75 trillion framework that Manchin resoundingly rejected during a “Fox News Sunday” interview on Dec. 19, aides say.”

“Schumer announced in a “Dear Colleague” letter circulated on Dec. 20 that “senators should be aware that the Senate will, in fact, consider the Build Back Better Act, very early in the new year so that every member of this body has the opportunity to make their position known on the Senate floor, not just on television.”

“The statement was seen as a direct jab at Manchin after he blew up Schumer’s schedule on Fox News. But any such vote in the next few weeks would be guaranteed to fail and Schumer has previously told colleagues in meetings that he doesn’t want to force Manchin to vote on the bill before he is prepared to support it.”

“Aside from Manchin’s objections, processing the huge 2,000-plus page bill is a huge challenge in large part because Senate parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough is battling breast cancer and a new surge in COVID-19 cases is raising concerns about in-person staff meetings.”

“A second Democratic aide said the shift toward voting rights after the high-profile failure to pass Build Back Better in 2021 is designed to “mollify the base.”

Empty words. Especially if you never leave your house. I live next door in Kentucky. How about next time I am in your state...I stop in? We will walk around your town and randomly choose people and ask their opinion. I would bet it is the same as when you claimed no one in your state supports Obama Care

Manchin says 'no negotiations' in the works with White House on Build Back Better

WASHINGTON — Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., a key vote on the Build Back Better bill, said he has not participated in any negotiations with the White House after he said last month that he could not support President Joe Biden’s signature legislation.

"There is no negotiation going on at this time," Manchin told reporters on Tuesday.

Washington Post reported today that Manchin’s $1.8 trillion spending offer appears no longer to be on the table. 😂

Including farm subsidies?

Your post here is pure nonsense.
The bill does not build back better than the success America has had in its entire life.
The bill does not build back better than the previous Administration.
The bill only provides another layer of destruction that will take many years to repair. the build back better plan actually creates the need to build back.
Are you stupid or just making stupid comments that prevent people from discussing how to get out of oBiden's mess to start with?

Including farm subsidies?

Of course. Farm subsidies were a good idea (like student loans) but once corporate America got involved it just became another give-a-way program to those corporations.

Further... farm subsidies aren't really a necessary expense of the Federal government.
