Buffy: Countdown to the Apocalypse

It's not about Right. It's not about Wrong. It's about Power

The parallels between the Beast destroying the side of Evil and the FE working on getting Good, both the Watcher's Council and W&H getting annihilated, the Beast rising from the ground same as the Turok Han, Buffy exploring the Slayer's relationship to the FE just as Connor is doing with the Beast....

Told you silly billy's there was gonna be a crossover.

As to no humanity. In the finale of season two, when Angel intended on raising Acathla to destroy the world, Spike mentions something along the lines of this, and this is off the top of my head. "We like to talk big. Vampires do. 'I'm going to destroy the world.' It's tough guy talk. Strutting around with your mates over a pint of blood. The truth is, I like this world. You've got dog racing, Manchester United. And you've got people. Billions of people walking around like Happy Meals with legs. It's all right here. But then someone comes along with a vision. With a rea passion for destruction. Angel could pull it off. Goodbye, Piccadilly. Farewell, Leicester Bloody Square."

Angel.Was.A.Loon.

I'd forgotten about that "speech". Thanks rasta. :)

I wonder if she was always in line, or if the blood mixing in season five is what did it.

Dawn is the new potential slayer huh. Kind of funny how things are starting to pan out on some of the original prognostications, by others and myself. Unless I'm forgetting some other blood mixing that occured around the same time Buffy and Dawn mixed their's.

This is probably a dumb question but who is Jamie Kellner?

Yeah, what Felicia said!!

I didn't become a Buffy fanatic until season 6 (sorry). Because of that, I didn't start watching Angel until last season (I think) and even then it was towards the end of the season. I need help understanding some history...

How were Angel and Darla able to have a child? Aren't they both vampires?

What happened when Faith went to LA (??) to see Angel. They've alluded to it on episodes of Buffy but I never saw the actual episodes with Faith.

I've noticed on this season of Buffy that the FE has taken both Drusilla and Buffy's likeness. How is this possible? Is this because Dru is a vampire and is technically 'dead' and Buffy has died (twice), allowing the FE to assume her likeness? I'm so cornfused but, hopefully, a sista can get a little help from the other Buffy-ites on this site. :)

Thank you all, in advance, for your help in helping my dumb ass understand this Sunnydale based stuff.

There is another in Sunnydale. Potential. And she is very close by all the time. You should find out next episode.

Jamie Kellner is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. He also founded the WB and if you recall, BtVS made that network. He's also the stupid git that split up Angel and Buffy. Not the romantic pair, but the series. Basically, when UPN outbid WB for Buffy, Kellner made the decision to hold onto Angel and drop Roswell. Had he dropped Angel, UPN would have picked it up.

So, he's the reason we don't have any more crossovers. And I suspect he's the reason that Angel has been bounced all over the place and given lousy timeslots. Though I have no proof, I think Kellner is out to submarine Angel in retalitation for the Buffy network jump.

Wasn't explained (though I haven't seen much of either series this season due to travel so I'll provide the background to this season).

Faith was a slayer drunk on her own power. She actually helped Season 3's big bad, The Mayor, achieve his ascension. She shot Angel with a poison arrow. Angel, in order to live, had to drink the blood of a slayer. Buffy tracked down Faith, they duked it out, Faith fell off the roof, wound up in a coma for 7 months. (Buffy thus had to save Angel, giving TV one of the most erotic moments ever to get past the censors).

In Season 4, Faith wakes up to find the world nothing like she remembered nor as she expected. The Mayor left her a little going away present, allowing her to switch bodies with Buffy. The scoobies figured it out, but the Watchers Council was hot on Faith's trail, so she headed to LA. There, she went on a power rampage, got hired by Wolfram and Hart to take out Angel. Faith lured Angel to her by torturing Wesley, her former watcher. Faith and Angel duked it out, ending with Faith sobbing in Angel's arms in confusion over her past deeds. Angel kinda 12 stepped her, but Buffy showed up and got thoroughly pissed at Angel for trying to show her why she should seek redemption and not throwing Faith's butt in the pokey. Faith eventually wento the police herself and has been in jail ever since.

If you want to catch up on past eps, you might want to check out the Cross and Stake, http://www.angelicslayer.com/tbcs/main.html.

This is where we see the brillance of the BtVS writing staff and their honoring of history.

In Season 3, after Angel returns from hell and gets his mind and strength back, the FE haunts Angel, trying to get him to kill Buffy. The FE takes the form of various people Angel has killed over the years and begins to drive him mad. Buffy theorizes that the FE brought Angel back for a reason, that the FE needed him and therefore Angel had power over him. By neither killing Buffy nor committing suicide (which Angel was prepared to do to keep himself from turning into a killer again), they thwarted the FE's plan.

Now, we see repeating of history. Spike's got a soul and he's got a thing for Buffy and he's being driven insane by the memory of his past crimes. See the parallel's with Angel? So, why does the FE need a souled vampire in love with a Slayer?

Hi, I'm Imi and I'm a Buffy geek...

Imi, thanks for clearing things up. I was confused on some of that stuff too. I just read the description of this week's Buffy from the TV guide, sounds like a good episode. I couldn't believe they put that dumb show in Buffy's slot last week.

Well, if you got any other history questions, ask me. Having written fan fic, I poured over a LOT of it.

Damn, Imi, you are the SHIT!!!

Thank you for the multiple clarifications. :) Now I understand the flashbacks on some of the season 4 episodes, I couldn't understand why Buffy was so mad at Angel.

I, too, had noticed the parallel between the FE's mindfuck of Angel and Spike and pondered its significance. So I bet the FE is able to assume Dru and Buffy's shape because they died.

Thank you for the link, I will definitely check it out.

:D

Imi, you kick ass!! I only got into Buffy watchin around season.. umm.. we're on 7? so, 6, 5 - yeah.. sometime during season 5. I love it when people clear up stuff I'm to vague about to even ask intelligent questions about. ;)

Thanks!

Yup Yup Yup

These bits are helpin me out too!

The first episode I ever watched was the one where Buffy dies telling Dawn that the hardest thing in life was to live. Don't remember what season that was...

Anyway, I was lucky to watch the reruns on FX, but sometimes it's still alot to take in all at once... so these bits and pieces help out alot.

Thanks!

p.s. Can't wait for Tuesday nights episode. Missed it last week.

Ok, I Looooooonged for the show to be on but it wasn't. I looked forward to it all day only to come home and some silly show was on instead... I was missing my buffy fix.

Ah ha...

And I just found out what's gonna happen in Episode 15 and I can NOT wait to see that.

Just curious... does it take away from the show in anyway for you knowing what's gonna happen?

Not at all. With me knowing exactly what's gonna happen this coming tuesday, I'm still very eager to see it. There's a difference between reading what's gonna happen and seeing it for yourself.

Ohhhhhhhhhh, I just read the best bunch of spoilers for the next few eps... I can't wait. I love knowing what I'm looking forward to. For me, it makes it better. I was having my doubts about this season, until I read these, but now I'm excited and really looking forward to all this good stuff...

And with my freelance wacky schedule, knowing what I'm in for, just a little bit - is like double insurance that I WON'T miss watching.

<evil grin, little happy dance>

Hiya Rasta, babe. How are ya?

I don't really have much to say about Buffy right now, but I figure this is like own own little mini-forum, so I thought I'd pop in and see what was going on. No one besides a few of us read this, so, yeah.

Ever just have one of those days?

Of course. Hasn't everyone. *sigh*

Sleep always seems to help, of course after one of those days, sleep is the last thing I can usually do.
