Is there any particular accent that just curls your toes and makes you say "Dayum!" nearly every time you hear it?
Do you role-play with any particular accent?

Me? I adore a Scotch (Scottish) accent.
I also like a good Italian.

English. I have several English friends with whom I talk to regularly, and I just simply love the way they talk. They, of course, tease me about my accent (what accent?).

holy crap, i was actually gonna blog about accents! although granted, i was gonna go a different way with it...

i can love all accents, depending upon the speaker. there are some accents i have tremendous trouble understanding: i suspect that a native dubliner who's already deep in his cups would be completely and utterly incomprehensible to me. but i do tend to like what i've heard of it.

most european accents interest me that way.

British and some Canadian get to me rather tidily. It's the lilting hint of we're-the-ones-who-founded-this-language that rings my chimes.

Canadian, eh?

Personally, it doesn't matter what accent - it's the "otherness" that attracts.
I have to admit a particular fondness for a Southern drawl, and a Scot will get me wet in an instant.

I adore almost all accents. Brit/Irish/Scot and sub dialects of these almsot always make me swoon. European, Aussie, NZ's..they all sound fine as wine to me. I've taken 3 years of voice and diction to try and replicate some for vocal work but I remain enamoured of hearing an accent aside from my own muddled sort of common American.

Australian's nice too.
If you like nails on a chalkboard!! ;)

Funnily enough I don't mind a Kiwi accent at all. Mind you the second most beautiful woman I know is a Kiwi.

And then there's french  Comes of growing up near the Quebec border!

French is nice, I have to differ on the Aussie, I love it! But to each their own I suppose.

What is you accent?

Yeah, I'll ring in on this one. Yep, I do enjoy the British accents--there are a couple that fill me full of glee and goodness. Other than that, I'd say any deep, soft male voice is delicious--the accent is a bonus.

Give me a man with a masculine rumble in his voice, something deep and manly and I melt. Something about it just goes right to my knees and makes them weak.

i can't stand southern accents... australian, english, irish... i can really enjoy those. :)

I like the Welsh, Canadian and Australian accents.

But looking at the posts here I should consider a move stateside as my harsh scots tongue could get me laid more often over there!

I know I'd love to listen... I would even try to behave....try being the key word.

I have one of those Canadian accents that many Americans often seem to confuse with an English accent.

I assume you've got that sawthen drawl!

I like women with English, Irish, Scottish, Austrailian, Russian, and German accents.

No such luck. Born in a Northern state, educated in diction till most trace of any accent was drilled out of me. I havea very National News sort of non-accented american voice. But it's a nice one still!

I read about an English linguistic study once that was looking for the least accented voice and they found that it was 'ALBERTA'. In fact they coined the phrase 'Alberta Average' to define it and accents are basically standard deviations from it.

Not understanding linguistics, I'm not sure what they were on about. I thought most people thought only 'other people' have accents.

All regions, areas, social groupings impart some sort or dialect on your speach. I was rasied with what is jokingly caled Northern Redneck. Not a slow drawl but the same sort of jargon and verbal shortcuts.

Now I sort of sound like a national news caster. At least that was the goal after years of voice lessons. To be able to sound like other regional dialects then my own.

So in effect we all have accents to someone.

I also like the sound of a woman's voice with a British accent.

And the woman with the strong accent at the end of Pirates of the Carribean II (or whatever it's called)....I had no idea what she was saying but I loved every minute listening to her.....though it would've been more appealing if she had good teeth.

I think you mean Keira Knightley ?
