Ya. If they were going to fire him, they should have done it after his 7-7 season. Now, I'm involved in some Nebraska forums and there was scuttlebutt about some drinking issues and other things that might have been embarrassing had they come out, but that's all rumors. And citing those would have made the school at least not look ridiculous for the timing of the firing. That's almost exactly what I said. "Seriously? Why would you fire a coach who had that kind of winning record -- with a BRUTAL schedule, mind you -- if you didn't already have some football mastermind lined up for the job? Who did they think was going to come in with those ridiculous expectations? That made no sense to me."
I was happy he made a nice little career for himself at Ohio. I don't think he was the right guy for us long term, but he didn't deserve how he was treated by a long stretch.
I actually think if Bill Callahan would have hired a great DC, he could have been amazing here, but he hitched his wagon to his friend Cosgrove whose schemes just did not work here.
I'm hoping Rhule will finally be the right guy, Frost had me excited but alot has come out about dysfunction within his staff. The buyout hurt, but I'm glad we let him go.
