Bro’s thread

That's almost exactly what I said. "Seriously? Why would you fire a coach who had that kind of winning record -- with a BRUTAL schedule, mind you -- if you didn't already have some football mastermind lined up for the job? Who did they think was going to come in with those ridiculous expectations? That made no sense to me."
Ya. If they were going to fire him, they should have done it after his 7-7 season. Now, I'm involved in some Nebraska forums and there was scuttlebutt about some drinking issues and other things that might have been embarrassing had they come out, but that's all rumors. And citing those would have made the school at least not look ridiculous for the timing of the firing.

I was happy he made a nice little career for himself at Ohio. I don't think he was the right guy for us long term, but he didn't deserve how he was treated by a long stretch.

I actually think if Bill Callahan would have hired a great DC, he could have been amazing here, but he hitched his wagon to his friend Cosgrove whose schemes just did not work here.

I'm hoping Rhule will finally be the right guy, Frost had me excited but alot has come out about dysfunction within his staff. The buyout hurt, but I'm glad we let him go.

I like this thread. I didn't get the official invite, but I'm jumping in anyway. My NFL team is Seattle, mostly because I've lived most of my life in the PNW but also because growing up watching Steve largent did make you believe anyone could make the NFL. Did my disc golfing yesterday with my boys. Tip of the ball cap to all you gents

Welcome brother. Jump right in! Try not to trip over @Bbl87 ’s Johnson. Damn thing is always getting in the way.

and just like that... I remember why I don't watch sports.

Okay everyone.
What’s your football (nfl) team?
I’m from Dallas. I have an excuse. Hate all you want.
I don't watch or really follow any sports.

But I do check in on the weekends to see how the Razorbacks are doing in college football and during the Spring/Summer I check in on the ASA Archery shoots to see if the guys I know are doing good.

You also follow the razorbacks in hoops? (I think my team is scheduled to play them this year)

Nebraska football is the one thing I'm like that with. My dad was born and raised in Omaha, and I was raised with Husker football in my blood. He even mentioned when officiating my wedding he was proud we chose a Saturday that wasn't a game day. 🤣 With him gone, it's probably my strongest association and connection with him.

I follow other sports, just nowhere near as closely. And honestly we've been bad for so long I'm not quite as ridiculous as I used to be, haha.

I wish shooting sports were more of a thing. Hell, I saw a bags tournament on ESPN 2 the other day. I feel like trap/skeet could make for some good TV. Hell, I think 3 gun competition would be awesome to watch.

yeah, I agree. I used to shoot weekly indoor league at a local shop and local tournaments most weekends. Also shot in a few different ASA tourneys before I moved up here. But since moving, I don't have a shop to shoot at and haven't really gotten back into practicing. I still have my target rig and do shoot it every few months. Someday I'll get back into it even if not at that level.

Several of the guys I shot league with are now in the pro or semi-pro class. It's pretty cool to see them on Youtube and Facebook along with some of the bigger names in Archery. Most of the pros are real nice guys and gals too.

Michigan should have been sold champ in ‘97

My latest story was written for "Gio," a fellow who lives in Washington and who roots for the 'Hawks. Before the season started, I said...hold on, let me find it. Ah. It was week 1:

Vikings, football season is pain, Michigan on Saturdays
Could be worse. Another of my online gaming friends is a Lions fan. They were impressive last season. Do you have any fingernails left after last season? 😆

Nicely predicted. I did not expect Geno or the team to be that good, but I was ecstatic about the Russ trade when it happened. He's a nice QB but only when he is running and he does less of that each year. The haul was great. And despite his public persona he pretty much was the most disliked guy possible in the clubhouse.

Your entitled to your opinion. I think a split was probably the fairest outcome in that system.

I think Nebraska was a more dominant team outside of slipping past Mizzou (I remember watching that game) and Colorado was a close one.

Talking bowl games, the Wolverines squeaked by #8 Washington State led by Ryan Leaf in the final minute while Nebraska destroyed #3 Tennessee led by Payton Manning.

I think strength of schedule is the best argument for Michigan. But I think everything balanced out, a split made sense. Of course as a homer I'd say Nebraska was better, but we'll never know.

I stepped away from my computer earlier. Wound up having a wonderful conversation with my daughter for nearly 2 hours while my wife was out shopping. She talked about some of her classes and teachers, her friends and a band she'd begun following. We discussed biology, chemistry, calculus, and being the outlier nerd in each of those classes. I introduced her to Eric Johnson's music. She introduced me to Lovejoy. It was a good day. However, I missed being here and a bit more active while more of you guys were here.
