It was based upon Robert C. O'Brien's Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH

If something seems wrong about that title, it is because they changed the heroine’s name from Mrs. Frisby to Mrs. Brisby to avoid trademark problems with Mattel over the similarity with their product: Frisbee.

Mrs. Brisby was a mouse, and when she came along in 1982, I was just the right age.
