Tell yer what, give me a rundown of the candidates and what they stand for, and I'll make up my own mind!!

How's that??

Whatever you say, dear.

I'll just use my powers of persuasion to point you in the right direction.

I just saw a clip on the news of some event in the UK called the Cheese Roll - a bunch of loonies rolling, tumbling and bouncing themselves down a steep hill? Looked painful. Have you all gone stark raving mad?

Lime

No. It is one of our ancient customs that the Health and Safety people keep trying to stop. The steep hill is mainly covered in grass so there are only a few strains and an occasional broken limb. Statistically it isn't as dangerous as driving a car, but then what is?

It isn't as dangerous as running around the town with a blazing tar barrel on your head - and Yes, we do that too.

I'm not a Brit -

but is it OK to pop in and say good morning?

(Well, it is morning in Kansas, USA!)

:)

Good afternoon, Sweetsub

It is 5.37pm here and the sun is shining. It can't last. This is England.

*chuckle*

Well, it is grey and nasty here (and 11:37 a.m.). Does that help?

:)

Perfectly normal behaviour around these parts. We do it in my area, but using a Mini Babybel and a slight incline.

sss,

We've got the same weather here in New Jersey...wait a minute, I've figured it out....Those Brits have stolen our weather and sent us theirs!

MSL

Yep, it's been warm and sunny here all day. And, it's forecast to last for a few days yet.

Hey, Lou? There's still a week to go before we get all patriotic n stuff, innit?

We get in early around these parts. You should see all the houses and cars decorated already.

We're an excitable lot, and always very patriotic. :D

By the way. Good training yesterday, eh? Morale booster. I'll be rooting for you for as long as I can. ;)

I'm predicting a Portugal vs. England match in the quarter final...

Yep, it could well be, but let's hope they don't meet until the semi's. ;)

Indeed! 6-1 is an awesome score, even though it was against Iceland. It should help them have some belief, if nothing else. :)

I'll be rooting for Portugal, too, until (and if) you meet England, of course.

If they don't meet in the quarters, they won't meet at all, unless in the final. :(:)

Yep. Same thing over here. 4-1, even if against Lithuania. But every one of the strikers scored, and that is usually the problem with Portugal, so...

When do you think we should start The Thread? :D

I was in Setubal last night about an hour before the Portugal match started collecting someone off the bus from Madrid.

It was joyful happy pandemonium, heaven help us when it all starts next week.

Later, I knew Portugal had won just be the cheers and honking of car horns. I can happily support Portugal and England with a foot in each camp, roll on the final - though my suspicion is neither will be there.

Ah, yes, of course! I was thinking about the groups wrong.

Let's pull for a meeting in the final then! That would be weird, but very exciting.

It's all good practice and just the kinds of games they need before the big ones. France - bring it on!

You should have a slightly easier start with Greece, but nothing can be taken forgranted in the beautiful game. :)

I wouldn't mind if we started The Thread sooner rather than later, I am so excited already!
