Yes? And? I never quite understood the hatred for PETA, but I think that's generational. The most scandalous thing they did in my lifetime was issuing a nude Pamela Anderson calender.

I mean, the most scandalous thing I can recall PETA doing was kidnapping peoples' pets and murdering them.

Those people are insane, dangerous, and evil. I'm not really sure where they land on the "left vs right" spectrum, but PETA are not nice people. Under no circumstances do you "gotta hand it to them." There are plenty of vegan groups out there that don't literally murder peoples' pet dogs.

As for Bardot, she was just a classic ladder-puller. She made it big fighting the patriarchy for the right to do what she wanted to do. But when it came to other peoples' rights to do what they wanted to do, she was happy for the boot to come done as hard as it wanted. As long as she was allowed to have sex with who she wanted to, she was happy if gays, lesbians, and mixed race couples were discriminated against. She made real progress for real people: recall that when she started the bikini was literally illegal in Italy and Spain. And when she won (and she did win!), she turned around and tried to pull the ladder up and prevent other groups from enjoying similar liberation.
