The mask itself is held over the face by the dominant position. If They release pressure on the mask seal then it will loosen from the face and can be shaken off by the sub. The mask itself is easily available from most medical supply shops that cater to emergency medical providers - it is the same thing that you see on shows like ER when the patient stops breathing and they put the bag thing on.

Not something I would do. But at least it is good to know as long as the dominant doesn't land on the sub's face, they'd be able to breathe. Decent safety risk there.

Pulse Oximeters start at around $370 or so for a cheap one. A good emergency medical supplier is Galls.com ... most EMS and Fire Jockeys wind up using them for a variety of items.

If you ar employing a BVM and want to confirm your CO2 return .. you could also get whats called an "End Tidal CO2 Detector" ... what that is is an item that goes between the BVM and the mask and will tell you roughly what the CO2 return is ... (using a color coded system) ... This is usually a lot less expensive since its meant to be disposable.

if any of you watch the tv show "House"they covered this issue on one of their shows.the guy was in the hospital and his dom was also there to guardian over him.she was caught strangling him while he was in the hospital.they thought that the repeated strangulations were the cause of his condition.come to find out he had an infection in his jaw due to a surgical mishap and had to replace his jaw...needless to say im sure she went right back to choking his ass after he was better.
