Exactly two weeks from today I will have a breast reduction surgery. I am extremely excited and yet extremely nervous as time grows closer. My mind is boggled with thoughts, and even though I say I don't care what other people think I really really do. I plan to use this as a tool for myself. I am sure many people will laugh at the idea, I deal with it in reality as well. Noone knows how it really feels though. I get really bad headaches, backaches, neckaches and as of the past year they have been more intense.

I would like to keep a portrait diary as well. I want to share the week by week visual changes as well as physical. Do you think doing so here would merit negativity? Do you think it would be totally wrong to post it here? Please give your input, critiques, etc... I plan on doing this either way, pending.

What matters is what you want and how you feel. Best of luck to you when you have the procedure done.

I'd be nervous as shit going into surgery. Anything like that would loom over me like a great big black cloud. I can understand why you'd want to do that, and I say post or say whatever you want here. I don't recall ever seeing women get negative comments from posting their boobies. People in this room are nice anyway. Do whatever would make you feel better.

Good luck to you. You must be a very strong person to make this decision. I wish you well and will be cheering for a successful operation and speedy recovery.

I think you should post photos only if you are emotionally comfortable doing that. I am sure there will be many women who find it helpful, but you must do it for you, not for them.

Negativity? Not a chance. At least not from those who have spent any amount of time here. Personally I think it's awesome you are doing this. So many can't do this for various reasons. You have to do what is the very best for you and that's what counts. Good luck to you :rose:

I'm glad to know that this will bring you some relief from the stress on your body. You're gorgeous now, and will be just as much so afterwards.

That's awesome! I know two people who have had them and both were very very happy with the results. One was almost hunched-backed from it, and now she has no more back pains!

It's something I have thought about for the future, possibly after child birth ;)

re

I couldn't imagine living with daily pain so good for you for trying to correct that. Hopefully it enhances your ability to live comfortably :)

Congratulations on your decision. I'm sure you gave it a lot of thought. My sister-in-law had it done many years ago (she was 18-19 at the time) and has never regretted it. I wish you all the best and hope that everything goes great for you.

I think it would be an interesting project to keep an online photo diary of the changes in your body. AmPics might be a bit too frivolous of a locale for such a project -- why not do a blog where you have more control? but that's just my opinion. I'd look at the thread, certainly, and post comments as well since I'm a chatterbox.

As much as I do love a woman's breasts, particularly when they're of larger size...I wholeheartedly encourage and support that which makes a woman feel better and enjoy her body more, especially when it's done for medical reasons over vanity. Go for it and have a healthy recovery.

congrats on your decision! i know of two ladies that i worked with that had it done. the one lady had a wild new hairdo when she came back so people wouldn't notice her bewbies. that was a great way to make her feel more comfortable afterwards.

and posting here is a way for you to get support :rose:

This is a big descision for you to make but health wise it can make a world of difference. I know someone who had it done and the results not only were miraculous for back and neck pain, but the surgeon was/is an artist. She had really big breasts before, I'm talking 44DD(when pregnant they got to FF!) now they are about a 38-40C and they are spectacular. She recieves nothing but compliments

I just wanted to say that i think you are doing the right thing, i know exactly how you feel although i have never had the courage to go through with a reduction.
I also think that a diary is a great idea, i for one would be thrilled to see the changes not only in your body but also in yourself.
GOOD LUCK :rose:

I think you have already had your surgery! Congrats! I know how much better you will feel after its done. Its your body, your choice! And when you have had to live with breasts that are too large, a reduction is the best thing to do!

I had one 7 years ago now. My only regret is that I didnt get it done years earlier! Please do post! Or feel free to pm me if you like

My wife underwent a Breast Reduction in '96. She went from a DDD to a small D. She has never been happier, less self concieous, or more comfortable. She was even able to breast feed our daughter in '04!

I had mine done in '97.

I am now a C cup. A little over 6 pounds was taken off of EACH breast.

I have nasty scarring. This is definitely not the case for everyone. It is making me a bit self conscious.
If there is scarring that doesn't heal properly or right after the operation, is the surgeon liable for a lawsuit, or is that part and parcel of the risks you take when going under the knife regardless?

I want to first thank everyone for responding to my thread. I do apologize for not thanking you individually. I am still sore and out of it a bit on meds. But will post more on how the process went. Would I do it again? Absolutely. I love my new girls.
Thank you all for your kind words, you'll never know how much they meant to me.

hugs and licks.

Good for you!!! Just make sure that you give yourself enough time to rest and recuperate.

I'd say "hang in there" but you won't be doing much hanging now that you've had the surgery!
