(CBC-Ottawa) – Prime Minister Steven Harper has ordered the Canada – US border closed tonight. This is in order to prevent a stampede of Americans emigrating after the American election results.

The Prime Minister has stated that he welcomes Americans to our country but this must be done in an orderly manner.

Immigration officials need time to put extra personnel in place to handle the traffic. All Americans must be checked for weapons which must be surrendered. Also, immigration officials will be checking to see that immigrants carry sufficient health insurance as refugees are no longer covered by Canadian health care.

Immigration minister Jason Kenney has stated that we hope to begin processing American refugees with 72 hours.
