This joke reminds me of something that really could be damaging. Kerry apparently did have the proverbial "active social life" after his separation/divorce. I doubt many voters would find that disturbing. However, if he continued to fool around after his marriage to the rich older widow, it would definitely tend to give credence to the "golddigger" smears.

Of course, right now it's all speculation.
