any tips??!! before or after care? any ways of lessening the pain? oh the pain.....yikes!

i'm so excited...but so scared!!

thinking about getting it done - with permission from the important powers in my life so I would be interested to hear the replies too.... so this is me *Bump*ing the thread!!

Hi, hope you don't mind a newbie answering. I go every 12 weeks for my brazillian. I really don't think the pain is that bad. It isn't a cake walk but on my scale 3/10. The perineum is the least painful. I just focus on a spot on the ceiling to help me relax. I find the tweezing for stray hairs to be the most uncomfortable. You may want to take a tylenol or ibuprofen a few hours before your appointment. You will most likely never go back to shaving after you begin waxing. The smoothness can not be beat.

Why don't you just have a Brazillian and forget the wax?:D

No, really, what's a Brazillian wax and why is it special. Sorry I can't help you. I try to avoid pain.

WELCOME TO LIT!!!!

I really dont mind accepting advice from a newbie - everyone is welcome here! And besides, who better to give the advice than someone who has it done already!!

I might just book myself in for that tomorrow!

Does the hair have to be any particular length?

I dont see the peoblem with the pain..... I'm into bdsm anyway!!
lol

Thanks for the advice!!

This is a useful thread - I think after you get your Brazilian you should come back, post pics, and we can discuss :)

I am considering waxing my butt actually, but am afraid of the pain.

if there was one piece of advice i could give?

do not have a brazillian done within about 3 days before your cycle!

you will feel the pain more intensely then.

same goes for tattoos and piercing.

welcum to lit sl:rose:

thanks for the tips.....i've heard that the first time is the most painful, but as your hair gets finer, it hurts less. (hope so!!) i might double the advil intake to two before i go! lol!!

lol....why can't i have both?!!

a brazillian wax is when all your hair is waxed right off....there are variations of a landing strip or little triangle of sorts. it's all about the smooth skin ;)

i've heard that the hair has to be long enough to lay flat. yikes...it's getting messy! lol!! it has to be long enough for the wax to grab on hold to, i think.

pain can be good....sometimes ;)

are you going to do it tomorrow??!! let us know how it went! i'm going next wednesday.....eeeek!!!

thank you warrior queen :D

i'll remember that.....i know about that for tattoos, learnt form experience....ouch!

how about right after your cycle? does that make a difference?

Why not wax at home without the expense? I use Surgi-Wax... you heat it in the microwave and go. You get used to it after the second time or so, and from there on it's smooth sailing.

I've never paid anyone to wax me, but I can't see paying someone to do it for me when doing it at home is so inexpensive. 20 minutes or so and you're done for three weeks.

I've shaved, used depilatories and such, but always go back to waxing. I have no irritation from waxing, but terrible rashes from shaving in some areas. Everyone's different.

I would note, however, that you shouldn't use wax your most delicate parts. Way too hard to remove. Use the razor there ;)

after is not as bad.
for some reason, before is worse.
it has something to do with the hormone levels raising.

hey - i wish you all the best anyway!
i did it once....
... and that was enough for me, thankyou very much!

piercing my own clit was easy compared to a brazillian!

honestly, i don't think i'd have the nerve to yank that strip off myself!! lol! goes back to a bad waxing experiment that my friend tried on my armpit! bruising, practically internal bleeding! lol!!

The length of your hair should be atleast 1/4" for waxing. You do not want it to be much longer so trim before your initial appointment if needed. You will want to exfoliate your bikini line prior to the visit and have some Bikini Zone ready in case you get an ingrown hair. When you first enter the room they will hand you a paper thong. You will put that on and then cover yourself with a towel. You will begin lying on your back and then move to your side as they finish up your behind. They will tweeze any stray hairs that weren't removed with the wax. As they pull the strips away, they will add counterpressure with their hand which really takes away the sensation of pain. I have tried waxing myself but it was much more painful and not as precise as the salon. Good luck!

thanks, slhb :rose:

is it bad if it's longer than 1/4"? does waxing lessen ingrown hairs? i used to shave and found that i get ingrowns from that (hate them)......

starting to have the feeling that my humility is going to be parked at the door...lol :D so now my esthetician is going to know me as intimately as my doctor!

If your hair is long there is a greater chance the wax will not reach the skin so when the strip is pulled away it hurts. I haven't had any ingrown hairs with waxing.

Chittylove,

Your advil (ibuprofin) idea is spot on. Take 600-1000 mg a couple hours before you go and you will be a lot more comfortable. This helps everything relax so you get a better job done.

thanks, dstorage :D thanks so much for your reply!

and thanks to everyone else too!!

only 5 more days to go!!!! then i'll be smooth and soft like a baby's bum!! lol :nana: :cathappy:

I agree, just got my first braz and i was told 1/8 " is best, trim as best ya can before hand. As for ingrown hairs I never had a problem with when i did a basic Bikini wax.. so dont imagine with the braz i will. i did hear though that cocobutter can clog those folicles and cause ingrowns, so if your workin away stretchie marks stay away from that zone with the butter:)

thanks orchid! well you survived, so that's a good sign! lol!! i know, i'm a wimp!!

3 more days left  stocking up on exfoliators, bikini zone, and advil!! :D

chitty love, will you come back and tell me some really useful questions like:

what do you wear during the proceedure? are you naked down there? the thought of someone non medical looking at my vagina is well, a little odd to me, that why ive always done my bikini line at home with wax.

but the thing is, he wants it now hairless, i hate the look of the nudeness, it being rather child like to my eye, but if it pleases him then thats ok. so the brazillian is a answer, but im not sure id cope with exposing myself to a what? beauty therapist/hairdresser.

How many tweezed hairs were removed, are we talking a few, or lots?

How long did the whole thing take?
