What happens at 42?????

When I was in jr. High, my neighbor across the street went on vacation and died from a heart attack (Mr. K was 42). At the furneral, I over heard one of the adults say, "42 is the killer."

So, I always feared turning "42" as I matured

Love you hear your story concerning "42"

I had children young. By 42 they will be off to college or trade school or wherever making a difference in this world as adults. So I'll be able to live my own life by then. Not really a fascinating insightful reason to look forward to my 40s, sorry to disappoint. Just being honest!
I read a few years back men no longer find women attractive after age 29. But the "cougar phenomenon" has exploded. Hopefully when I turn 42 I will be considered a cougar. I look forward to my 40s and 50s. Very much so. I look forward to new adventures without regrets about how I "should act". Just another dozen years or so "conforming" until I'm old enough to no longer give a damn.

I just said to my co-worker I can't wait until 40 (she's a few yrs older then I am) and she expressed the same excitement as me. Her eyes glazed over, looking into the future.. "Just imagine, a quite house to come home to after a night of club hopping." Yasss! Her kids are slightly older then mine and I feel less guilty now!

I was a little bummed over the past few days. I wasn't meaning to insult anyone over 30. So forgive me if it came off that way. At my friends BBQ on Saturday, she said I must of felt 30 was the end of the world. She is nearing her 50s and I think I offended her.
I think it was more of a grieving for my 20s. Having kids young made me miss a lot of the experience of being 20-something. But gosh am I grateful to have had my experience over that typical 20s struggle.
I am excited to be in my 30s now. One of the things I just realized is I'm now 30ish and he's still 40ish. I don't think I'll feel like I have to validate our relationship. Where before I would hear "What does a 19yr old and 36yr old have in common"? I shouldn't have to justify all the reasons I love my guy. Maybe that is my maturity talking.

Sweet mother, what is all this bad juju on 42? I hit that next year! Thanks for making me feel old. You had kids young but I had then "old". I'll be looking at retirement and college tuition.

I'll be with the hoards heading up 75 tomorrow. Hopefully it isn't too bad. First trip in the new to me family roadster.
